#Build 42 Unstable Out Now
1 messages · Page 21 of 1
im mowing over zombies and my tank is just slowly filling up
But that's something the government doesn't want you to know
Is zombie blood still human blood? 🧐
If so we need to start running over our fellow man to cut down on gas prices
Wheres the best way to find a Mason's chisel, or should I just grind knapping for a stone chisel?
Before you get overzealous make sure your gas tank is actually filling, and you're not just damaging your tank.
Style is important in the apocalypse
Man how on earth do u level up knapping lol
I only had 6 flint nodules and could only get that xp up to like 20
its native plot armor fr
just don't get bitten and you can wear anything!
I mean if anime has taught ppl anything its that heavy armor is vastly inferior to running around naked I guess
I still dont get those designs lol
THATS A WORKDDDD????
i remmeber waking up at 3 am after binge watching cartoon network as as a lil kid and waking up to robot chicken and frying my brain
and Steven Spielberg is one of the creators
Why did my bucket commit mitosis when I made a bucket of clay cement lmao
There seems to be an unmarked bunker between Fallas Lake and Ekron
and when that bucket of cement is "empty" it won't turn back into a regular, actualyl useful bucket
It's right above the military surplus store

Somewhere on the X
just gonna point out that b42 unstable is gonna be cleaned up pretty fast probably
not super fast but a bit faster than b41 unstable at least
yeah i mean theres a metric ton of people reporting bugs, if anything its only limited by how fast the devs work
especially with like 20-30 times the amoint of players
more devs and such as well possibly
the sheer amount of feedback has been pretty insane
also, from what i gathered from the veterans, the transition from B40 -> B41 was a lot mroe structural
that makes sense
and getting everything new working for MP is a bit less monumental than
making MP from scratch (twice IIRC)
B40 - B41 was a massive leap
do you think the dev team has expanded since then? since b41 blew up in popularity?
Yeah some of the modders we had back then are devs now
Reason why B41 took so long was it overhauled basically everything
yep I heard about that, idk which ones though, maybe KI5? rings a bell
game is great, devs are responsive, modding community is great too
couldn't ask for anything better
Fenris was one
He was the wizard who made the best gun mods pre B41
that sounds familiar but I can't quite place where ive seen them
ah I see that makes sense now
well at least they've got a good foundation to build upon
yeah sounds about as expected, it took them like 2 years to get from b41 unstable into where it is yeah?
indeed
should be a bit faster this time around, i've waited a few years now for b42, another year ain't so bad
I think at this point about half the dev team were modders at one point
"Coach King Kalan"
I think they also had to do major rewrites for the engine itself to may basements possible, so that's a big part of what took so long.
"You're goddamn right"
HOW LONG DO I GOTTA KEEP SWINGING AT DIS THANG
DAMN
that takes a lot of effort even with an axe
Good
What’s the interior like?
use axe
i got kinda unlucky, the only thing i found in this gunshop was a shitton of ammo but no guns
LIKE A WHOLE LOTTA AMMO
random question, did you change the aim options?
the aim crosshair
but 0 guns, actually wait i lied, i found two just as we are speaking but they are kinda shitlol
I am in dire need of the standard option settings, I changed them and it fucked up my aim crosshair functionality
like shooting blanks
I mean, you can land headshots with a revolver, specially M36 which has a very short range
if am I not mistaken it has the least loudness factor
they take FOREVER NOW lol
or seems like it
Again, someone please tell me what are the default crosshair settings, please
for the target ret thingie?
yes that
disassembling doors >
My character just got tense after just cutting down trees, what gives? There aren't any zombies around
And no I didn't get infected either
The seem to have made zombies banging on doors and windows give stress
Im in a wide open area tho. Weird
Yeah gun and ammo distribution in default 42 so far is nonexistent
got a tent and canteen tho so aint too shabby i guess
Kinda a shame since it means we cant test out the new aiming
Thats about as endgame as it gets lol
Yeah chopping trees makes me consistentky anxious, what in the world
the sound reminds you of your war PTSD (You are a veteran)
So true bestie
Depending on what day it is (lmao peak day) that place can have between 1.5k and 2.5k Zomboids
im on peak day lmfao
Guns Unlimited is located in echo creek?
Yeah it's the name of the firing range to the west
Guns unlimited is in the back of Louisville right>
no its in the new area
Oooooo whoops
yeeeee
It's a doozy
I see
I am in need of ammo, might check it out later
thanks
my best bet is to raid a police station probably huh
okie
Fallas Lake is the easiest place to get guns imo
how so
their armoury door is not reinforced and it's unlocked most of times, but they only have a single gun locker in there and two regular cop lockers
Fallas lake is good
But the old Military surplus store is located at what's marked "farmers market"
Oh, didn't know that
im also alot closer to it i think
wonder how ill get there not sure what roat to take out of echo creek
Go east there
Once you hit a T-intersection go south
thank you so much
I've heard that place has a lot of zeds so be ready for a tussle
time for a adventure
But still far less than the damn firing range
last Thursdoid of 2024 tomorrow. Let’s see if we surpass the message count again
yummy yum
i finally get to the cow place and freaking looted and theres only an angry angus for a cow lol
Where is this
that cattle farm by irvington
someone in here suggested id find a cow here lol , but my luck is fart
Have you considered starting a rat farm instead?
R we getting a thursdoid today
Is that a thing???
Sheep are probably better for farming milk
AAAA I NEED B42!!!!
has anyone customized the crosshair for aiming?
Can you pick rats up in your inventory and they eat stuff automatically
I havent but I think ill try now
i have one but she wont milk unless she has baby it says lol ;l
exactly beuh!!!!!
Yeah
So go find a Ram and have it put a bebby in Dat belly!
I think that's how lactating works irl
he wont breed lol hes just sitting in freaking hay!!!
lol but i want a milk machine 5000
Yeah IRL industrialized Milk Farms artificially inseminate Cattle for a reason
It’s a thing yes, you just need 500 rats to start off
Is it out of season for mating?
i have no idea lol its umm
Give it
A couple months
how do i get that much without deep frying my mother board
Why am i given the option to sniff correction fluid 🤨
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_sheep_reproduction
Sheep have a breeding season (tupping) in the autumn, though some can breed year-round.
Domesticated sheep are herd animals that are bred for agricultural trade. A flock of sheep is mated by a single ram, which has either been chosen by a farmer or, in feral populations, has established dominance through physical contests with other rams. Sheep have a breeding season (tupping) in the autumn, though some can breed year-round.
As a r...
Do it, prolly intended
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
where can i buy industrial coolers irl?
cause its funny lol
What is correction fluid?
If they replace
emotes in discord and stuff with new ones i will be
You drink it to instantaneously become correct
How does one make a Large Ceramic Crucible, rather than a Large clay crucible or a small ceramic crucible
TIS making me do my homework
(white paint to correct stuff in text and stuff)
Pottery Wheel then you need to fire it in a Kiln

How the hell am I gonna get 20 it took me like 3 hours to find 6 lmao
I just wanna melt my cheese grater
Oh lovely
can't you dig for clay
I saw somewhere you could
Only way Ive found it thus far is by foraging
That's, horrible
There is a mod that allows you to
Is daylight shorter during winter, then during summer in Project Zomboid?
Foraging is fun in pz
Yarr
Foraging is fun but being bottlenecked so hard by clay isnt
It used to be extremely optional and unrewarding unless you're maxxing it
Unless I'm heavily misremembering
Yeah, but I enjoy finding stuff that is considered rare, it feels like an easier way of finding hard to obtain items
Like black leather jeans
But i found like 2 berries in half an hour and got poisoned despite reading the forager journal
UGHHH I can't wait to play b42 it's everything i ever wanted in zomzom
Why can’t you play it
Oh wow 20k? lol
how to craft anything?
Legacy AMD card
I believe in you! 💪
Is crafting a stone anvil worth it?
RIP
I lasted at most 8 days in b41
Because fuck west point and early helicopter
I got to the gun store, realising i somehow lost my sledge
And then the helicopter.
i am waiting for enhanced helicopter events, until then the heli stays out, darn news crews
Yeah i love expanded heli events, awesome mod
Makes the world feel more alive, paradoxically
Steam deck aint supported yet
Thats the old crafting menu, cant access the new one with a controller
i wonder if canning is coming down later the road for preservation, as a longer term version to the trusty ol jar
I figured out a work around. if I click the crafting icon on the left side it works. is there a way to reduce the crafting menu ui size??
Anyone elses sinks bugging out?
Plumbing is kinda broken atm
I havent done any rainwater plumbing or anything. Just normal sinks before shutoff not showing up in the context menu at all
I am glad my car is functional, goddamn
nothing a shotgun couldnt solve
Where even are you in the photo haha
Shutoff can happen on day 1
but i think a tiny bit of water still remains in sinks?
It hasnt though. Other sinks are working, and when shutoff happens it doesnt just remove the sink from the context menu
gen no idea
Definitely a bug, just wondering if anyone else has gotten it
Sometimes its picky where you right click
Yeah it aint that either
Yeah it shows up in the "Disassemble" section so definitely not a misclick
Project Zomboid has one thing that actually gets into you. despair

despair
It's small but serviceable

Damn...
I died...
but that's the new town
Brandenburg
This place is so chill, I love it
Got here and died next day
I needed 2 twines for a fishing rod so I headed to the estate in hope to find some in its sheds
despair
double holster, and shoulder holster dear god i got too much space for pistols, lol
Got my right arm scratched in the forest and then fcking died because swings became THAT slow
have any of yall checked this out
I mean yeah, its basically THE business part of the city
Well like I said, with how slow they made combat for 42, I'd be interested in seeing how people would clear LV at higher densities
Beyond just fire
Damn
nut worthy soundtrack
probably my favorite soundtrack in the game lmfao
esp the low part
Once you get high enough skill in strength and your melee weapon of choicel, you're back to being endurance-gated rather than muscle strain-gated.
Nah. I like mid part more
It'd probably be about the same as if a B41 character was dealing with that same zed density, probably a bit easier because of the mix of fast and slow shamblers in net
that good too
Also. Check high part of this https://youtu.be/pNz8tr3s600?si=-rTTZSXDc-zOcs0j

That violin is just gorgeous
Strength and fitness looks improbable if you didn't already start with it high enough or have it set to 5X or higher in the XP settings
erosion go crazy
Yes, but that's why they were always meta traits.
drunk driving this in game lmfao
I'd say shotguns but they seem a little inconsistence for multi target currently

Unironically, I managed to clear a large portion using pistols
I find shotguns to be dogshit now
Range is too low
i cleared about 600 zombies around the rosewood PD, most of it with a JS-2000
they pretty much one shot anything within 8-10 tiles, but multitarget hits were more or less random
atleast i couldnt figure out how to reliably set it up
the system overall is a massive improvement to what we had in b41 (I'll miss you, "effectively really long stick"), but I'll probably move back to ATRO
which literally just updated this night, guess there is my christmas present
they said they fixed this, I'm gonna test it for myself
A "meta" melee combat character build is going to have:
- Athletic
- Strong
- +1 Nimble (for +75% base experience)
- +1 Maintenance
-
- to a specific weapon that they plan on maining
Pretty much everything else is either nice-to-have or in net wastes more time to get over all of those perks.
Arguably B42's rebalance of loot drops, zed density, and adding muscle strain made most components of the "meta" comp more noticeable to where they almost feel as mandatory as the other good things.
Eh I started at 5/5. I could also make the argument that crafted weapons are overtuned so it's better to focus on the skills that allow you to craft them since they basically 1 shot as long as you have 1-2 on their weapon skills
I had my weapon miss and they went for a bite but they also miss lol
A construction worker with wilderness knowledge to pick up maintenance is +1 carpentry, knapping, and carving so they're already pretty decent at that.
I am sad that there are not more long blades in the game to find early on
Are there 2h long blades like a great sword?
by the point you can craft em, you probably already have a relatively high level in another skill
is it possible to repiar the machete in build 42
i cant seem to find it using this recipe anymore https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Machete
sharpen it
does sharpening improve the condition? ill try that i did find a grindstone
i dont think so, but there's a bunch of crafted crude blades
change it's handle
Yes you can repair a machete with epoxy
You only need knapping 1 or carving 1 for stone spear or bone spears
under the repair tab I think its ballistic tape & epoxy you need level 3 maintenance
a weapon has 2 parts that can be changed head and handle
it doesnt have a handle
And those weapons are hella overtuned
sharpness 0
yeee ima go sharpen it
you need a whetstone
ill see if something comes in recipe if i sharpen it at grindstone i found
"Gardening/Weapon" what?
or a grindstone which can be build and is much more efficient
Think you can use a file as well right?
yes but it's less efficient
also, did anyone else notice that there are some very detailed models in the world like the drill press or that two gas bottles-thingy? My guess is they are at some point going to be crafting stations
I recommend the grindstone
Im doing a new playthrough with sprinters. If set on normal, in 50 zombies, how many are sprinters? I may just set it to low
whetstones are too nerfed imo
LMFAOO I SPUN IN THE AIR FRM RUNNING OVER DEAD ZOMBIE AND ALMOST DIED LMFAO
check percentage in advanced view
some harry potter level of flying too lmfao
oh. Didnt know it shows that
no caps pls
They need to adjust sharpness, it decreases way too fast
33% pretty high for normal. Ima go like 10%
It starts to get silly when machetes and katanas need a recharge every 4 zombies otherwise you lose a lot of damage
Yeah i think they're gonna have crafting stations out in the world for things like cutting metal etc in factory as old factory machinery which we can get components for/from to maintain them but eventually their plan is like cars to have them degrade over time
i mean, most blades arent intended to be hitting bone often
lol bugged, I smashed 80 zeds with the machete and it didn't loose sharpness
even butcher knifes have to often be sharpened professionally on the weekly, depending on how much they are used
Isn't it highly dependent on maintenance level?
(Granted, maintenance sucks to level, so it's a distinction without a difference)
yes and if the butcher knife is sharpened and you have a high skill in butchery you get a good amount of meat
I don't think so
Metal pipe my beloved <3 More durable than hammers nowadays because it doesn't have a handle so the head doesn't go flying off
some like the bandsaw you can already use!
axes seem to be OP atm
Yeah I found one myself and marked it because it seems like a very good thing to use for crafting! I doubt we can pick them up though I tried and I had no option
The chance to lose condition when you use whetstones is influenced by maintenance
they might be intended to be unpickable
But that's about it I think
I really want them to include a chance of a catastrophic failure at low skill levels for the bandsaw, but I'm also evil
not atm engineering skill needs to be updated
lmao a hatchet can chop the entire forest in the map without loosing any condition
I don't think we can lift up heavy industrial machinery anyways
You will be able to build alternatives
without something like a forklift and it wouldn't make sense for things like servers
man i can already see someone hoarding all the bandsaws just to troll the server
That would be me day 1
Yeah but eventually they will fail and finding components to fix them would get rarer and rarer especially if their goal is for servers to be running long term straight into a post apocalyptic medieval society but they will probably last for years anyways
but also, having something like a large tools producer in the outskirts of LV that has most, if not all machines in their storage would make for some tempting "hey lets meet up and clear this"
We're talking 10-20 years btw so they'll be kicking for a good few it all depends on what their idea is with them
You will also be able to craft spare sparts for them and if the repair requirements are just scrap electronics you will only have to maintain them, like the generator
I'd imagine it would work like spare engine parts for cars
the idea was that a table saw needs a blade replacement every so often
or rather you need to resharpen the blade
components are rare and you can take them from cars but you wouldn't get that many so eventually they will degrade with use
there is a blog I've posted it here some time ago where they talk about machines and how will they work
i did find a few script files regarding to the testing of parts in crafting machines when i understood the scripts right
They still haven’t caught the car bandit 😢
also, machines that have tanks included and can use said tanks for crafting (i assume thats for brewing later on?)
Hey everyone. Jumping straight in with an update on the new and improved crafting system this time around if that’s okay with y’all. As we’ve talked about in previous Thursdoids, a large part of the crafting overhaul revolves around creating a unified, powerful and expansive system for machines, crafting stations and appliances. This covers all ...
Turbo was experimenting with them in a dev testbed with current sprites and added function to them you can see a steam boiler, juice maker etc
It would be cool if we can set the sprinter's hearing and vision in sandbox. I'd want them to have better hearing and vision over the others rather than a general setting for them all
this
Didn't they also mention there would be a brewing skill?
yeah but i think that comes later
At last I can brew my own moonshine
Yes and we saw the brewing profession but for later
yeah i found remnants of that testing in the script, but i couldnt get it to work as a mod, mainly because i dont have a clue how to work with the new UI system
i have not given up yet
can zombies attack or break down those walls? It goes around like a square. Looks like a good place to build a base. Planning on building there on my new playthrough
New crafting systems
Pottery
Blacksmithing
Stone working
Brewing
Weapon crafting
There was also talks of a potential tech tree
So far blacksmithing and weapons are the only ones with things going for them
glass working seems pretty neat
which I'm hoping replaces the reliance on using recipe magazines
blacksmithing is still very WIP
There's not much incentive to go pottery and stone is undeveloped imo
with a primitive furnace you are still locked behind some recipes and skills
it is unstable beta ver of b42 but yeah we'll get it eventually
Looks like pottery & blacksmithing will most likely intermingle which makes sense
kinda like how carving & carpentry do
yeah they stated very clearly that the crafting system is implemented but it'll be pretty bare bones for the time being
Pottery is nice atm but the stations are unbalanced, no good animations when interacting with them
More crafting books to hunt
^^^ this in their little list they have expanded crafting listed
Really hoping we get a tech tree or something or auto learn recipes because I am sick of hunting for these damn books & magazines
it's funny that the primitive kiln and advanced kiln require same materials to build
they stated that recipes will have an auto learn function
Most recipes seem to have an auto learn function
What magazines seem to do is allow you to craft them sooner
yeah in the crafting menu you can see when something is autolearned by leveling
Just discovered something potentially useful to someone
Under known recipes, there's a tab for agriculture that shows what plants and growing seasons your character knows
AAAA I NEED MY ZOMBOID, TOO
Project zomboid 2
💀
Electric Boogaloo
Build 100
With a Unity splash jumpscare
Can't wait to start todays PZ adventure after little sleep because a bunny of real kind got through defenses to destroy wife's work (and gaming) PC cables waking me up to 3 digit euro sum worth of damages done
last time I played PZ when not sleeping well was lethal
I'm sure it will be fine!(it will not This is how you died)
I think I'm gonna somehow get all the bunnies on PZ map, put them into a single enclosure and molotov them, for reasons
Most sane PZ player
that is light work to what I put my chicken population "problem" through
maybe today I'll get Deerhead Lake to me (again), clear the nearby surprise silent-honk-bug horde, fetch 2 pigs I found near a gas station and start a pig farmer life
When project zomboid 3
ermmm.....probably horrific but why not just stuff them in a basement with generator 💀
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOO no more chickenapocalypse
I found a trailer with chickens relatively a while ago but eventually an animal-related issue caused my save to be bricked until tech support told me to reset the animals by deleting an apop file, which DID work but killed all of the chickens ive been caring for
- the added benefit of free generator fuel! (This is not PETA verified)
Tldr probably not gonna touch anymore animals for a while
Playing Rimworld may or may not cause side effects to your mental health
at best my first run's initial 2 chickens I found, may have duplicated, because I don't recall seeing more than 2 in a hutch at my spawn house, but when I left, I butchered 4 chickens - no further problem with animals yet, but we'll see - the pigs I found were a male one, inside a trailer, and outside of it, a female one
I dont even know if physically there was any problem with my chickens ingame because my game suddenly got unplayable when they were already out of sight so i never got to see what actually happened to them
btw food from animals need a fucking buff lmfao
As a RimWorlder I'm proud to say the first thing I'll do if NPCs get to PZ is find out if I can give them peg legs
butter is pretty much the go to as far as resources go i imagine if you can make that from cows
You mean calories-wise
yeeeeee
Organ trade gonna be the new meta! 💀
Because -98 hunger uncooked is very good for a whole chicken
You can
thank fucking god 😭
2 cows or sheep is literally just infinite food. Milk is that OP
Milk cartons you can find out in the world don't seem to spoil either
wait cant i just make zomboid use my integrated graphics
you can at the cost of lower fps but still doable :)
3 FPS
chocolate ones do. Must be the chocolate
ON THE TITLE SCREEN
sprinters on low (6%) but I've already seen two after leaving the first house. It's gonna get interesting
6% is a pretty high chance ngl
Hmm normal is at 33% so I thought 6% was low lol
every 16th zombie you see is a sprinter
like all people i know that play with sprinters set it to like 1-2%
the beauty
oh. I'll see how far I can last before lowering it
1% sprinter ended my first run after all, bad timing, at bad place...6% sounds like you really have to play the game differently 😄
Does anyone know if I need a cockerel for eggs or can I just get away with keeping hens so I don't end up with another chicken problem
I did set vision and hearing to "normal or poor" rather than "random" so maybe that can off set it a bit
my spawn house chicken hutch on 1st run had 2 female hens, hutch was full of eggs - in real life you don't need a male birb to have edible eggs from hens
Sweet ty I'm just gonna keep a full hutch of hens then
good luck, I want some chickens too soon to have eggs to spice up cooking life, if something stupid doesn't end my 2nd run
the graphics are all soapy but the game doesnt run half bad outside of the title which for some reason has 2-3 fps
https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/s/lZpyEKqX7r farming discussion
is it me or is the title screen looking jaggy
Any way to edit sandbox settings mid-save in B42?
Go into debug mode
Cheers
Alternatively you can use this mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3386906181&searchtext=
whatever you prefer, you got options
Bahaa thanks man. i just found that myself too
😄
my 2nd character had a picture of children sleeping in his dark basement and some artistic nudity book

the spawns are wild
My wife is insistent on carrying around a "Photograph of a bear" she found early on, and looks at it for luck before a run
I suppose in this case a woman, your wife, chose a bear over you
Its a pretty majestic bear
while in reality if you shave their fur entirely they're more like crack addict looking creatures
THE RATS LMFAO
There's also that mod that lets you... produce milk
Hell yeah RP as a cow
is anyone else having this issue
Now all I'm missing is a mod that lets you eat grass
you can eat grass
Can you?
Cow RP incoming
yes
its so silly
i am unable to hit beard type
grass cutting -7 hunger
i dont want a fucking mustache 😭
Just press ESC when you are ingame
is it genuinely just me or does my game actually look off
check graphics settings > compressed textures, 2048 texture size
with NVIDIA graphics cards > anisotropic filtering at 16x and antialiasing on override 4x, threaded optimisation enabled and triple buffering if V Sync is on
Fixed my chicken overpopulation problem (there's 11 more in my backpack)
i'm off igpu because dgpu doesnt work
250 CHICKLENS
John Zomboid lifting up 465 kg of stuff like a champ
then I don't have any solution if you're on integrated graphics, need to move to a dedicated card
when they fix the amd issue
I had to battle my character being queasy the whole time time to butcher for the sweet sweet butchering xp
WHO PUTS BREAD IN THE FRIDGE
Psychopaths
someone who wants you to be able to make a sandwich for longer after the power goes out 🥰
so over fertilizing the crop will kill it if someone tries this
Yeah that was a thing in B41
didn't really need fertilizer in b41 cause crops grow much faster but it might be worth now
I think the limit is 3-4?
4-5
Isn't it once per stage?
the seeding phase and the blooming phase should be fertilized
did they heavily speed up moving items time
also -10 hours on the next growing phase if fertilizer is used
that's kinda bad ngl lol
if crops can take upwards of 240 days now -10 hours is nothing

can someone let me know what loot is in these buildings in guns unlimited?
All I got are pens and papers
moodles still look fucked up with the old moodles mod
I dunno, most of the outer buildings seem to be empty
Crates outside are empty as well
except the tent
i thought it'd fix the weird looking ugly color background
Why charlii is angry
I don't know how much of my experience might be due to the new looted building mechanic though
its just my pfp
dont worry abt it
Imagine we can hide behind wooden fences (not the tall ones) when crouching. It would make stealth a lot better
We could
could we? I was crouching and they saw me
they were walking to the house that I triggered the alarm. One was walking by and saw me
check the last blog post there is a video showing how stealth works
the radius is still big during the day compared to fog and night
I thought that was more for cars. I'll try again to see if they see me
that radius is both for vision and hearing
so this radius decreases when behind something. Not exactly line of sight kind of thing?
Like, if Im staying still, by a wooden fence and 20ft at the opposite side is a zombie, I shouldnt be spotted. But if there's a radius, I guess it is what it is
almost fucking died at guns unlimited but we balling
i think i have a plan, not a good plan , but a plan
why is the corpse moaning
if ur playing build 42 thats ur characters voice
i think i found a suicide note
will build 90 be the fabled vr update 🤑
No the Knox Virus drops in real life
LMFAO
imagine sprinters irl wed be fuckeddd
gotta live on a remote island like their gonna do in 28 years later
spoilers
IT SHOWS IT IN THE TRAILER I SWARE XD
I don't watch trailers!
it's ok
❤️
now that ur around
what are your thought on thinning the hordes in guns unlimited? ive spent like 3 days clearing it and the outside area is mostly clear, inside tho......i havent dared checked lmfao
im on high population rn ( peak )
Ah ty, now i get it
is this normal
Uh honestly I haven't gotten that far, I am still sitting at my base with the ambulance - been sick the past few days irl so I haven't felt like trying to play 😢
I might just take the ammo I got from the other gunstore and start blasting - I have 4 or 5 boxes of shotgun shells now so might be able to at least make a dent
Yes
Imo
how is it compared to the military outpost? Even I thought there were too many there lol
Guns unlimited is not worth it
Too many zombies to clear for the amount of loot it gives
so I am better off blasting the army surplus store?
felt like there was more zeds there but spread out
Not particularly. They seem to clump up closer to the woods
You can stealth in without engaging them
mmm didn't seem like it when I was there last, they were having a party right outside
I'm guessing migration?
We wouldn't be fucked provided the infection only spreads through droplets
But yeah they clump up closer to the woods. I've observed it for the past 6 playthroughs now
possible, this was my last pass through that area https://steamusercontent-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2912473863895260/97998D3A597B132307DE1E51892BAC77F4004069/
Airborne as well
We'll be fucked if the infection spreads in any commonly used product or element
If it was airborne we're fucked
We don't actually know what started it too so the original vector of infection might still be unknown
But yeah if it's only droplets then sprinters wouldn't be a problem
The military isn't actually incompetent
I was gonna say it but I don't want to spoil anything
What's more problematic than airborne infection is magic zombi
At best, unkillable
At worst, borderline eldritch horror
Think of Still Wakes the Deep but everyone is infected except you
it is airborne but some people are immune to its airborne transfer
Will we get the new 4k bob and Kate back
at least, i think so
Cordyceps is worse
It is, I'm just pointing out scenarios outside of zomboid
Food itself was infected
That's not too bad
i still dont understand how that works
like some people are immune to airborne transfer ?
Infected grain got grounded up to flour and that flour got distributed to the whole world
of a brand new virus thing ?
Perhaps antibodies or sum shi
Maybe our zomboid characters got special genes
Yeah and that's not as bad as infection being airborne
They're immune to one strain but the other can overpower their natural immunity
You'll be good if you managed to not eat the infected bread
Airborne viruses in real life have an effective range. You can keep it localized pretty easily as long as you respond fast to it
Provided you knew it was gonna happen beforehand
doesnt the US have a plan againts the idea of zombies already via their database, i remember reading something about that and found it silly, not sure if true or not
There is
The US has plans for everything
they do but its mostly a meme
If it was declassified then I don't think it was
They considered the possibility seriously
I can imagine them whipping out a big ass document at United Nations if hell portals open up just because they had too much free time to think up ludicrous scenarios
A bench you work on
What too much freedom does to a country:
you need to be near any table basically
counters work too, basically anything with a raised flat surface and is furniture
can i make said table
you can go to any table in the game
i am deep in the forest at this point
surely hopefully
i did not think of sleep
the first 9 days watch life and living tv at 6am 12pm and 6pm i think you can easily get skills for carpentry that way too
i dont think so but you can steal one and bring it with you if you have a car or sum so ur not overloaded
it's like day 4
how do I get an animal to calm down? pig has been stressed out
Pet them
how many times usually till they calm down?
personally i just ignore them
just make sure theres no zombies around and theyll chill out eventually
is there some way to make hud smaller ?
That I'm not sure
they accounted for big monitors but not for small ones
Aye, im playing through a TV at the moment and have to set resolution lowish to be able to see the hud, but that makes the crafting UI and Skill UI go offscreen
We might reach 25k or more
the crafting UI and build UI must be reworked in the way that the minimum height and width of the windows needs to be more than it is now so you can make it smaller it takes too much of your screen rn
This seems to fix the basement power issue in a roundabout way
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3392001801
how so 🤔
Excavated areas are not considered indoors
ah okay
Excavate an area, plop down the gen, and basement power should be good. No poisoning
Holy crap already got a way to make our own underground spaces
or expand the preexisting basements sorry
yup looks nice atm
nobody cares about that anymore now that 42 is out
Pz modders legit got some pace
Still a fun achievement
what is 25k or more
Think we'll get a thrusdoid today from TIS wishing the community Merry Christmas?
oh nvm they already did a tweet
how the fuck do i get clay
i thought it was foraging for stones but i only found 9 flint nodules and 1 stone
and bleach
Pretty sure it’s foraging but hard to find
There’s a mod that lets you dig for it I think
nd im supposed to get 20?????/
you get muscle strain in your neck from tailoring thats so funny xD
forage near a lake or river that's where clay is usually found
or use that mod to dig for clay but it's unbalanced
where is lake or river in muldraugh
lmao so cool
Which ones
Closest and safest body of water to spawn would probably be the one near the campsites
But specifically lakes or rivers? You're going to West Point
genuinely why the fuck cant you vault over counters
the thing is i dont remember there being any in muld?
i kept accidentally hitting q in cars and attracted all the zombies and locked myself behind a counter to kite the zombies away but then you cant vault over them for some fucking reason and i got eaten
There's none just little ponds and stuff
exactly
There's an lake by the farm to the North
inbetween that farm & the bar there should be a lake
There's a zombie in there. Locked door as well. Feels like if I hop the window, I'm going to get immediately bitten lol. No hammer to break down the door as well
can you hit him from the corner?
nah, cant even see him
I wouldn't risk it then
push the door (stand right up against it and press space)
it'll aggro the zombie, alternatively you could sprint right outside to make it leave as well
Whisper
he's hitting the door but it's been a while and the door is still up lol. I found a hammer, was dissembling it but it drawn some noise. Zombies came. Im just going to leave it for now

1 zombie can't break a door, it requires a minimum of 2
Are there any news about the amd issue?
F
F for amd
Old amd*
any amd
I got an amd gpu I and got no issue
how to make the crafting ui smaller??
Good question
mine is way out of the screen
same, they take up too much
i need more...
Blud cannot stop
How to heal sickness? My dude literally got sick until he died. I was resting, sleeping and kept him fed
He turned into a zombie. Guess it was a scratch I got earlier lol
Jesus
2-3 of those hours afk tho for working out and cooking
Don’t think so nah
Mechanics is so much less of a grind now
It seems they buffed XP gain in some places and those carzone VHS tapes are more common now
Yeah unfortunately can't say the same for welding which is essentially the new metalworking
like 1 car wreck only gives 20 xp even with a 3 skill book, they've severely nerfed that
What does this even unlock?
nothing i guess
it unlocks a unlock
clearly for a schematic unlock
yea. I read it and it didnt even have a ✅
I was being sarcastic lol it doesn't really translate over text
It unlocks zombie brains!
never remove a placed floor next to an existing building
currently falling indefinetly
Might wanna switch to debug to save yourself there
you'll die of fall damage
im trying to find out how
Steam > Project zomboid > Right click and go into properties > General > Type -debug under launch options
thank you
np
Turn cheats on > god mode > fast move and use the arrow keys to move yourself out.
God mode is important tho, you might take fall damage and die if you don't.
found a barbell lets gooo
Oh you doing a zero 2 hero?
I might try that on this next run.
Echo creek zero to hero.
I'm enjoying B42 so freaking much lol
Honestly that might make it a whole lot easier
Just due to the low pop in rural areas unless you're in a town
Ye
I'm mainly interested in the farming of B42. That and the new crafting. So echo creek will give me a chance to do that.
That and I can finally explore the new towns
yummers
for those playing on Steam Deck. Change your right track pad to mouse and mouse click. then play at desktop mode. it's playable 🙂
I just play docked :p
Eh its still better to wait for official support. New UI is super finicky
you play with mouse and keyboard?
It's playable even on 1080p. And yes I use mouse and keyboard.
guys what do they mean by "Intermediate Update" in the roadmap?
Same with car batteries draining extremely fast
We know as much as you abt that
great
maybe they meant a smaller update with a smaller scope?
yeah, but we're getting NPCs before that
Where is this?
Guh
We should get NPCs on B43.
I don't think so. I'm not so optimistic of NPCs that fast.
Was it the ligma edition?
sigma edition
I believe the devs stated, for adding npcs, first they’ll be “shallow but wide”, and then they’ll gradually add more complexity and depth to the npcs
What is ligma
oh no
It’s what caused the Knox virus
PANCAKE TIME
they said it on the roadmap
b43 is NPCs Stage I
Yeah, but b42 isin't out officially yet, and they said other things that change VERY MUCH along the way. It was what? 3 or 4 years for the unstable is out.
I hope they make climbable ladders. Be hilarious seeing my character fall off due to muscle strain
I'm not being a hater, i'm just saying that things can change along the way, cause problems happens.
into a pit of zambies too lmfao
Since I’m not sure where to suggest this I’ll suggest it here
So far the only real complaint I have about the crafting system has more to do with clay than the system itself
I feel like with how important clay is in early crafting like primitive metalworking and pottery it should be a bit easier to come by, or by adjusting the cost of things like the kilns
At the moment it’s like there’s no reason to build a primitive kiln since the advanced one costs the exact same and has the same requirements
Either that or add new options to gather clay/increase the amount of clay per foraging for now
That’s what I’m thinking
Having it so you can get more than a single piece from foraging or by having things like clay deposits by bodies of water like the new “ore” nodes
Actually this has given me an idea for a bit of a challenge, but idk how to enable and use debug so I won’t bother for now
I think for now increasing the foraging amount would work as a temporary fix, later down the line though it'd be cool if foraging was still an option to gather clay but you'd get more by a river/lake unless that's already a thing, and they could have an option to gather clay from the river/lake with an bucket & a spade
I recall seeing it in a blog that it's planned? I don't remember which one.
I thought the same, I’m sure it’ll happen eventually
on the topic of that, there really should be way more tools you can use as substitutes for other tools, such as; instead of spades, just use a gardening trowel, or a whole shovel, etc
i dont like how it is currently with some recipes explicitly only working with, say, a spade
so i did some testing with -debug and the edit world settings mod
Plants won't grow if you have the "growing seasons" world setting enabled
I mean, it's a little hard to fix from a dev's standpoint
And I'm not sure how you'll test it when it feels like really bad luck
But kinda pissed me off ngl
for anybody leveling up maintenance:
Using a sharp object like an axe or a knife then sharpening using a file you get around 1.5xp each time you sharpen it
you can use a file to sharpen? o h
Badly but yes
sounds like a better idea to stick to my whetstones
and if it fucks up I don't think you get another go? though maybe the condition just dropped too much
that's something i've learned only later today
i believe a lot of people still do not know
i dont agree with that being the correct course of action though; ive always viewed the two stats as independent; sharpness is the condition of the blade and "condition" is the structural integrity of the entire tool
you should be able to sharpen the blade as much as is needed without it relying on the weapon's structural integrity
Found a scrap metal sword on a zombie. was great fun until it broke in half
because the lower your sharpness is, the faster your condition will decline --> you quickly spiral down into super fast condition deterioration
well, get the peices and see if you can reassemble it
well sharpness is a new mech so I imagine it's one of the things to give feedback about
are you able to craft a sledgehammer now?
Sure you could sharpen a blade as much as you want but the structural integrity is what’s going to make that weapon effective or not.
You could have the sharpest blade in the game but if the condition is bad it’ll snap straight away
Probably but it's a toolhead item so you probably need an advanced forge for it
what would be the appropriate place to give the feedback at
forums or steam generally, discord is too fast moving a thing to keep track of stuff on
that is correct, but in that case the blade was never high quality to begin with
i would guess it wouldnt snap apart entirely at first
some steels are also just garbage tier and just will not hold a good edge
still compass are not working?
compass..? wat
i'm just saying that sharpness shouldnt be capped by the weapon's condition because it does not make sense
let me sharpen the blade as much as i want so i can get a full use out of the weapon b4 it inevitably breaks pls
You need a good handle for the blade to be of any good use. Without a good base integrity your blade is no use.
ok, but sharpness isnt the whole integrity fo the blade. Just the edge thats supposed to cut
yes i fpund a compass i remember in one blog they were showing them using it
thus, it is not the condition of the blade. The blade can hold, but it may not cut as well as before
i don't remember which was the blog
I think what they have is fine. Keep sharpness and weapon integrity separate.
it's not separate because sharpness is capped by the condition
it will be separate once i can max out the sharpness aslong as i have enough sharpening tools to use
whats the best way to bring an item back up to max condition
what they have right now comes off as very counter productive because the moment you don't immediately sharpen your blade after killing a few zombies, your condition will go downhill and now you are unable to fully restore your sharpness
Happy March survivors, let’s check in with some of the departments we didn’t visit in the blogapalooza of two weeks ago. FISHING Over to Aiteron for the latest on his fishing additions. “This week I’ve mainly been working on a unique random seed that procedurally determines where groups of fish will be located in PZ’s […]
thus losing your condition even faster
Depends on the item, anything wood can get a lot outta wood glue and duct tape
repair section of your craft menu, a lot of stuff doesn't show on right click context menus right now
thanks pal!
yeah I noticed that.. makes it more complicated now
do we still think the right click context menus are good enough or should those get a rework aswell
maybe a mini crafting UI section of the new one
I think the craft menu just needs more filters on it
like I know there's a sandbox option for this but there should also be an ingame option to toggle away all the recipes you don't have
it can be wierdly hard to navigate through what you can actually do in there
let me just scroll past all these recipes I don't have, and these recipes I don't have the skills for
I’m glad the right click menu is gone, it was god awful clutter
its still there
except with cooking
we have a new crafting menu but you still can right click stuff to do a lot of different things
for example cooking still makes big use of it
cooking still pretty confusing sometimes
like when you have a bunch of ingredients for a stew/soup
I should’ve clarified, for building
Who doesn’t lmao
im sure everyone does
Do we know anything?
No
no. when its ready its ready
Why is it not ready yet
Pick up stones, gather tools, make barricades, and chop trees to get Maintenance lvl 1, then start crafting things.
Devs just released the build to unstable branch 1 week ago for feedback. They need time to iron out and balance the game until it is ready for multiplayer.
best way ive found is load up on tape and files to sharpen and repair everything in sight. 1.5 levels per repair from what ive seen
day one im 35% of the way there to maint 1
Repairing contributes to maintenance?
I thought you just need to keep whacking the stones at a tree.
That is the current new "push door for maintenance XPs" meta exploit.
Blade weapons is probably a better method.
Crude whetstone is literally two rocks, and you can sharpen any blades.
a little. fixed a can reinforced handle with woodglue and got a few points on maintenance
yeah but you need maint 1
Oh oops.
it does, quite a bit. from what ive found its the best way to get lvl 1
I want to say there's maintenance books now too? Possibly wrong. Not positive.
i looked in debug menu, theres not
Yeah, game is forcing players to first start by foraging and surviving by collecting stuffs before heli event, then farm, and then loot.
And then you can finally craft.
So I’ve learned it is genuinely impossible to progress in blacksmithing only using tools you can make since proper tongs require a heading tool and a heading tool requires proper tongs or vice grips
Nice
I've been trying to get a military backpack. Or at least a large bag
all attempts failed so far 😔. Speaking of large bags did they lower the chance of highway survivor zombies?
Usually i'd snag a large bag on day 3 by finding those little hordes on the side of the road
yeah its not good rn
though i found like 4 metal tongs already so im fine
but relying only on the environment isnt fully viable atm
Are livestock animals okay to drink tainted water from rivers and such?
not sure if they'll do that on their own without a trough
fucking stupid rabbits, because of them my van's hood is ruined
now i will be constantly worrying about my car because my engine is at 39%
for how not amazingly useful armour is, they sure seem determined to make it dogshit, forearm armour? can't wear your watch, shoulder armour? backpack can't be worn
i think I saw a video of someone taking attacts from 2 zombies for 1 minute straight with metal armor
seems the worse my tires become, the less weight my car can carry too
I mean, if your planning on taking on a hoard all you need is a weapon nothing else
This shit isn't even covering where the strap would go
that he spawned in cos the journey to making metal armour is a ridonkulous one currently
in my experience it's the same as B41
I've been lucky so far
if the feeding recipient is empty it will fill with rain water which doesn't appear tainted in them
Haven't seen any like i used to
I mean i just found it on a zed
I'd almost agree with it if the more advanced articulated armour didn't have it but no, every single shoulderpad in the game cannot be worn with a backpack
it is never worth giving up your backpack, especially if your wearing heavy metal armour that eats up half your base carryweight by itself
and it also just physically makes no goddamn sense, a backpack is an item that is strapped to you, it is not impossible to strap it on over armour
is the long stick craft missing?
Your mean to forage it right? its just very rare
I reckon Indie Stone will buff the rare of long sticks spawning because all most people have found are broken long sticks
where do you get saplings from btw
idk how to get those
So if eggs and milk are renewable now.....
Are there fruit trees?
Yeah
W h a t omg
If only I could survive more than 3 days and actually go somewhere I want!!! this game would be peak rn
Ngl idk lol but i wouldnt be against it
probably from cutting trees or foraging, but really rare. Ive only found a sapling by looting one of these wood log storage things
i was looking to craft a stick fence and i need 6 long sticks per part and i was looking for the craft but i didnt found it so i can craft them or i have to foraging them?
I think right now the only way to get it is theough Carving them from saplings
i spent a few hours foraging and never found an actual long sticks, i got lucky and found cudgels and broken long sticks and whatnot, but NEVER long sticks
you mainly have to find them or trim saplings
i found a bunch of long sticks when foraging in a forest
no way
aNd they werent broken?
ok, thank u guys
i do not think they are ever broken
all the long sticks i foraged were not broken
my life has been a lie…
Maybe I need to load in a newly uodated save because my unstable b42 world has been the same one for a week now
I reckon it’ll be fixed by then
and the sapling where i founf d them? chooping trees?
i just told you
Thank you, does food and water drain fast? i have 4 cows
anyone having black squares popup when driving around? everything else seems fine
so put feeding troughs outside if at all possible
got it
sorry still idu, u told me foraging or trim saplings but first i have to find saplings and the saplings? i have to forage them?
build them outside with carpentry or welding
actually wait
but the large ones, they have higher capacity
you misunderstood, if you want saplings, ive only ever found them in log containers so far
chop trees
i am ASSUMING that you can forage them, but i haven't had any luck yet
got no saplings from that so far either but its worth a try
also some pre-apocalypse items like Brooms can be made into spears
ok this is somenthing to tell to them cause if i need long stick for making a fence and the only way to make it it's to loot kinda difficult containers it's very unbalanced
try it the hatchet won't lose any condition it's bugged atm
Do opposite sexed cows need to be the same breed to create a calf or can a holstein cow breed with an angus bull
for example
It does seem silly how you cant craft spears or long sticks from planks, only saplings
full blown genetics are here
no, long sticks are forageable
is inbreeding also a thing?
so if you cross-breed the resulting offsprings won't be of pure breed so they won't offer the same amount of products
you can pure breed / cross breed
you can get long sticks via trimming a sapling but saplings are generally uncommon so its not a stable way to get the sticks
cut mops brooms rakes
ooh okay so a cross breed may produce more or less than their pure breed counterparts
Yeah the sapling restriction is weird
less
mmm ok thanks for the help, but still they should balance this
its not that unbalanced
besides, if your foraging is at 0-1 then i wouldnt be surprised youre struggling a bit
a broom, mop, rake can be carved into a long stick
Okay, many thanks, last question sorry, can i have a angus bull and a holstein bull (for example) in the same area because of breed difference or is it species as a whole
if anything it's now actually balanced
mine's at 4 now so i dont have that much of a problem finding stuff
yes
Thanks again 🙂
although i do not know whether foraging loot "regenerates" over time in areas i've already been to
never put males from the same species together
Ill just stick to one breed as a whole then, not worth the risk, thank you
Does that apply to chickens?
it doesn't, all the items are there but you won't see them until foraging is high enough
yeah but if i need this to built a fence and i need 6 it's kinda veeeery long, they should change the fence and use branches instead
every animal
Because if so there is an impending bloodbath once all my chickens grow up
You gotta keep it 1 male a hutch
Hmm. Is the best solution to just have 1 male then?
and in seperate pens id imagine
yes or 2 but not from the same species
a sheep gave me lacerations all over my legs once, it was novel
I see
makes things a tad difficult dont you think
eventually theres wont be many areas to forage in, unless i walk to the edge of the map
