#GOG Non dedicated Server Hosting and Joining.

How is the server installed exactly? And can you confirm that both PCs are on the "Private" network configuration? Since having it set to public would block any local connections otherwise, which is what the logs show that you have attempted.
The server is being ran from my computer and is on the local C.drive, if that is what you mean by "installed".
Yes they both have there network configuration set to "private".
While I was just verifying the network configuration I noticed that windows security had a firewall option just for "private" separate from "public" I ticked it off on both and tried to connect again with unchanged results in the log, line for line.
I meant how you installed it, not where.
What steps did you take to install it exactly and which file are you using to launch the server?
Now those are questions that I suspected where "things that need to be done".
So to answer your question:
- I installed the game and have not "installed" anything beyond that.
- I have noticed the .bat server files but have done nothing with them figuring them not to be excused directly.
The only thing I found even mentioning them was very old and where steam exclusive instructions. How or better yet, where are instructions on setting the server up correctly for a gog client?
Can you link to it?
The game does have the server preinstalled, but it is recommended to install the server separately in its own folder
You can generally use the SteamCMD tool for that
But as a test, I would first suggest you try connecting to your server using the local IP on the PC you are hosting
Since you said you only tried connecting from your roommates computer if I understand correctly.
That is lost in days of searching. All I remember of it is that a guild briefly mentioned them but I am pretty sure it was taking about steamCMD tool.
That I have also tried. Multiple things on the internet suggested that as the solution. Literally nothing changes. It is the same error as now.
I have seen that before but gog files are different and this program will not work.
It is one of the many steam exclusive solutions I have ran across.

So, an update. I have found this https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/173n9rr/nosteam_how_to_switch_from_coop_to_dedicated/
However now I still cannot join on eather computer and if I try to host while ProjectZomboidServer.bat is running I get stuck at the "loading world" and well nothing ever happens.
The GoG and Steam servers are identical
I suggest using the SteamCMD tool to install the server, the you run the "StartServer_Nosteam" file
Then connect to it using the local IP
That thing looks like a nightmare to set up and it makes me have to ask the question of why is multi-player so difficult and non intuitive to set up? This seems like a feature that is not really that well set up and takes a lot of cobbling just to get it to work.
Multiplayer itself is fairly simple, you host it through the Host button in-game without any setup
If you want to host dedicated servers specifically, which is what I am assuming you want to do based on what you wrote, you need to install the dedicated server tool
I am also not sure what you mean by nightmare to set up, it is basically a 3 step process.
You download the zip of the tool, you run the tool and then you copy the 3 commands as written from the guide
There are no extra steps
No that is exactly what I want to do and it refuses to work. I do not WANT to do dedicated but Nothing wants to help me get multi-player working because all the data out there is only for setting up dedicated.
GOG Non dedicated Server Hosting and Joining.
Ok so, let me clarify: I just want to have my roommate be able to join my game that I start through the "host" option in the main menu. That is where I am at. So what am I doing wrong and why can they not connect?
I see, my mistake for misunderstanding then, that would change a few things.
To make your issue clear, you yourself are able to host the server and join it, correct?
And secondly, does your roommate also have the game on GoG?
No it is my bad.
Yes with no problems.
They are playing with a copy of mine. They are able to play tutorial, solo and with 2 random servers I joined just to test but not mine.
Is this log from your roommates PC or yours in that case?
I would need the log from your roommates PC to check if the IPs that are used are correct and all
There's sense it is them who can not join me. I did not include mine because literally nothing shows up in my log when they hit join on their end.
If the log you sent is your friends, then it looks like the IP of the server is incorrect
Since it looks like they are using the loopback address
Meaning the log shows the PC is trying to connect to itself
Which would make sense if it is your log, but not when it is the roommates log
I used both the one it puts in automatically and the IPv4 everything said to use instead both with the same results. I will run everything again and sind you both logs.
Hm, could you screenshot the IP4v output in your cmd window?
Just so I can confirm that it is correct

will that do? Screenshot was not capturing it.
192.168.1.190
That is the correct address, however the log shows you put in the ** 192.168.1.1** address instead
Which is the gateway address
So at least based on the current log, it looks like you put in the incorrect address
I will give it a try. I was literally pasting it in so maybe it was pasting wrong?
You are shiting me. . . . .
It loaded instantly.
The paste was cutting it off. It did it again. I guess it is a bug or something because anything past 11 gets cut off.
Thank you for your help @open phoenix!
