Plan: Storage Unit Base
-
Unit Selection
Choose a central location: Pick a storage unit close to essentials like water, food, and other loot areas.
Prioritize multiple units: If possible, claim 2-3 connected storage units to expand your space.
Avoid highly trafficked areas: This reduces zombie migration threats. -
Access and Security
Block the entrances: Use wooden or metal barricades on roll-up doors, but keep one for entry/exit.
Roof Access: If possible, make a ladder leading to the roof for emergency escapes or farming space.
Double-layer defenses: Set traps, build fences, or create a kill-zone leading to your main door. -
Interior Layout
**Storage Unit 1: **Essentials and crafting.
Beds, cooking area (BBQ/stove), first-aid station.
Carpentry or tailoring bench.
Secure valuables (ammo, weapons).
**Storage Unit 2:**Food and water.
Place rain barrels on the roof and plumb sinks below.
Shelving for canned/dry food.
Freezer/fridge (use a generator for power).
Storage Unit 3 (Optional): Defensive fallback zone.
Spare weapons and supplies.
Minimal furniture for easy maneuvering during fights. -
Power and Water
Generators: Place one safely outside with a line into the unit (covered to prevent zombies knocking it over).
Rainwater collection: Essential for survival post-water shutoff. -
Farming and Expansion
Utilize the roof for farming—set up dirt bags and grow crops safely out of reach of zombies.
If there's open land around, fortify it for a ground-level farm or parking area. -
Zombie Management
Keep a quiet profile: Use melee weapons and avoid prolonged power tool use.
Regularly clear the surrounding area to prevent hordes gathering. -
Long-Term Goals
Build upward: Extend your base vertically with a watchtower or secondary living space on top.
Use nearby secondary structures as outposts for looting or storage overflow.
