#WorldDictionary + Sandbox.var file and ini files going completely empty, Dedicated Server

I tried running my server yesterday after a restart, however the server is stuck in the ‘starting’ and ‘stopping’ status.

Most of the issues are in the title and I have screenshots.

One of my friends reported suddenly freezing for a whole minute then after unfreezing his character was dead.

I’m in contact with the server host but it’s a mess to deal with. I have a backup of the server data.

you may check this
Dunno how your server is set, and how you made your hdd partition but your main problem is here

fleet goblet
#

there should be ton of space left on it

#

the issues cropped up before

#

and it wasn’t because of storage

mint shuttle
#

you should check if /home/ is not on a specific partition separated from the "world server folder"
as server do a backup at every launch
Or send your whole log not just the last error

fleet goblet
#

where could I procure my entire log

mint shuttle
#

best guess should be /.cache/server-console.txt or /.cache/Logs
You may also check in /.cache/backups/startup the size of each zip

maybe folder permission

uhm

#

it’s blank

#

I reinstalled the server yesterday

#

before I fell asleep

#

I might’ve deleted any record of error

willow dirge
#

alree syntax error some txt file also causes server to not run right? but this issue doesnt look like its the cause...

fleet goblet
#

wait txt files can screw up the server?

willow dirge
#

it says error on async_sandboxvars

fleet goblet
#

I have a note I put in yesterday too while we were trying to fix it

willow dirge
#

never saw that file before

#

can you share that file

fleet goblet
#

it’s also blank

#

part of the files that got deleted

willow dirge
#

ah ok

mint shuttle
#

async_ prefix might be added by certain plugins, scripts, or processes running on a Pterodactyl server
That's why I assume there is 2 partitions at least
And one is full

Does the Backups folder is empty ?

willow dirge
#

my bad looking at the wrong folder

#

can you try and delete it

#

back it up first

#

tho its empty lol

fleet goblet
#

back it up?

#

like make backup?

mint shuttle
#

yep all file created are empty cause of no available space in /.cache/ . pzserver try to create a backup but fail
no space left on device this error is pretty common and always lead to backups issues on Docker server
You can search on this discord with the searchbox
Here another PZ Hosting server with the same issue ask customer to disable backups
https://xgamingserver.com/blog/how-to-solve-no-space-left-on-device-on-project-zomboid-server/

After using Project Zomboid server for a while you will be hit by the error java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: java.io.IOException: No space left on device This error is caused by having too many mini files on the disk, For example, is when you look at the folder /home/container/.cache/Saves/Multiplayer/ you won’t be able to view the conte...

I’ll go do that

@fleet goblet None of your mods are deleting files. It is a backend issue currently affecting all of VA-113. We are working to get it resolved now.

RESOLVED

#

Your files were not disappearing, the server was failing to write data to them. The backend issue was causing servers on 113 to think they had no storage, so the server would not write any data to the file, resulting in empty files.
We have already implemented a fix for it, and the next time the server starts it should be fixed.
