One of the guys playing on a dedicated I setup through pine hosting is having an issue where his progress isnt saving. Yesterday we were both in giga mart and we were running around doing stuff. However, I didnt see his character, so he relogged. When he did his character was back where he was when we just entered the building with nothing he had done inside. Today he reported that while playing solo he lost an entire day in the same fashion with no disconnection or anything like that.
#Web hosted dedicated server. Player progress not saving.

Does he have enough space on his hard drives?
Since character loss should only be possible in the case the game isnt able to save, such as when there is no space
its a server hosted by a provider, the storage is currently at 5gb of 25. the storage on his pc is fine as well
Can he share the logs.zip file found in C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid?
from the server or from the client?
asking for them now, i got no idea how to read them though
Everything seems to be in order in the game logs, you said he managed to replicate it in singleplayer as well?
Such as loading in a new game, picking up a few items, exiting out
And when he loads in, are there no items in the inventory?
No it only happens to him on the server. I haven't experienced it. He can run around looting and such, but he notices it's happening when he kills a zombie and their inventory is empty
I see, I got confused when you said he played "solo"
What is his ping to the server? And does this happen every time he disconnects?
Do you have any other players to test this?
Oh, sorry I meant he was online by himself. It did happen to one other player, but it seems like it's usually the other guy. Only the three of us playing on the server. I will see if I can't figure out what his ping is. Is there a command in game to bring up Pings?
The ping is in the bottom right corner for each player
so the ping seems fine. we tested it this evening. we were sitting in our base both reading books. He dissapeared on my screen, his ping was 66ms. He could still see me, could watch me move around, but when he relogged he had lost his progress in his book.
It seems as if there is momentary packet loss or something and the server decides he disconnected, but his client doesn't register it and keeps going. I have heard before that there is a way to adjust the max ping of a player before the server disconnects them. Is there a chance that would help you think?
Hm, generally a high ping would result in a kick instead of a disconnect
This is a dedicated server, right? Could he try using the "Steam Relay" option when connecting?
It can help a lot in sketchy connections
well it seems like when playing with steam relay enabled he gets disconnected so that is an improvement.
Good to know, though I am not exactly sure if I can help much beyond that
