Shoot hit the fan. Countless died. Mass panic and chaos ensued: Military posts, houses, businesses, cars, everything was either Destroyed or looted by the first weeks. You are late to the party, 6 months after the Knox event.

All remnants of civilization is a small number of survivors, sometimes in groups. Most of them wont mind killing you to steal your goods, but be slow to judge, tomorrow you might just be the one taking a life over someones shirt.
Helicopters and planes sometimes fly by or drop stuff, so it looks like theres some form of goverment still standing, somewhere.
Most people you see seem to be unaffected by the airborne virus, lucky bastards.

The infected will be fast shamblers, and not particulary tough or smart, but theyll sure still be a problem, beware of the piles of corpses you leave behind.

To give some context:
This is the modlist i use, its focused on immersion, realism and difficulty while maintining as lore-accurate as possible. Recommended PZ hours to play: +1000h

Sandbox Options and mods to not enable:

Other conditions:
-Spawn is random (county random spawn, not casual random spawn)
-Build has to be a randomly generated one, feel free to reroll. only added trait must be susceptible.

"GOAL/s" of the run:
-Find and fix a boat, and use it to sail to Kingsmouth island in order to set up a base there.
-(Shortwave Survivors) Contact and Trade/Complete quests with a survivor group.

also, you might want to roll a mechanic character, those are good

overweight is probably a positive trait, youll be not keeping up on calories and winter will take some time to go away

actually have a decent start, spawned at the westpoint seahorse cafe, travelled out back to see a survivor with a large backpack and a mallet surrounded by 10 corpses, watched him get overrun and turn into a zed. they then decided to notice I exist and chase me into the gigamart, found a shopping cart with a hammer and a few cans of food in the giga mart and have now escaped into a house to wait out the night

also found a car key but the engine is 0%, I did start with mechanics 3 however so maybe someday i can drive

praying i dont get sick when i go to sleep cause sneezing fucked my last 2 runs cause zeds heard me and broke into the bedroom overnight. got a long jacket and scarf (super clutch in the wardrobe of this room) so I have a chance

dont think theres any zeds in the house but i couldnt check cause i was being tailed as i hid, only worry is that this window is not barricaded and already broken

seems the best way to get started early on is to find a survivor with a weapon/bag and wait for them to get themselves killed

had 2 runs now where i had a duffel and a decent weapon, my best run had a duffel an axe couple food items and 2 bandages, died to a scratch so yeah bites only from now on

Some guy shot a gun nearby and attracted the entire city to me so after realizing I wasn't gonna make it out I dragged the horde to him before dying and watched as zombified me consumed him

killed 2 survivors, one with a military backpack the other some food, bout out now but this is the first time ive had a safe location to rest at/fall back to

@pastel sundial hello, nothing its obligatory or not allowed, brother, this modlist is just a suggestion on how to make your experience harder, feel free to tweak stuff, i dont really care. i should warn you tho, modlist and config. as you see them are on another level of difficulty and i wouldnt recommend for anyone under 1k hours to even try it

and this sounds like it's great

I've just done a run with scalling sprinters to 100%, but as I wanted the story to be told, things were on the easier side of things

the lack of a mask keeps getting to me

but I must admit, I had to drop the inventory tetris, I loved RE4 with this solution, but I just can't do it in PZ, maybe I need to try it in some other settings, but it feels underwhelming

I spent so much time just trying to sort out the mods, but I keep getting errors, is there a change of you posting your load order? or is it normal to get errors from it?

Oh yeah, this is intended. i avoided to include some mods i use to the final modlist because they can be op, and i avoid using them in most situations (act undead is an example of this) or have locally and manually modified the spawnrates to balance the experience (bycicles redux). actually, a number of my mods are tweaked by me so they fit better or are harder, but i couldnt include those changes into the modlist or config so some mods i avoided to add

and yes, it is normal to get some errors, they dont break the game or do anything apart from being an annoying pop up, so feel free to ignore them or/and use the "error fixifier" mod wich should come included in the modlist

that is my opinion, based on what i know about muscle fatigue. gameplay-wise makes for a harder experience and makes painkillers more necessary.

still, i should mention again that removing mods or further modifying the modlist to your liking is recommended

appropriate title change, having just above 1000 hours has done nothing for me with your settings

had to nerf it down, removing the less 90% loot with 20% with insanely rare loot and remove the don't feed the zombies to even make it past one day

I'll go back to your original challenge eventually, but I still need to learn how to use most of the mods

I'm having a blast and feels like it's the first time paying again. And so far people have been enjoying the stream as it's so chaotic

Yeah, I've been streaming the challenge and getting used to it. And did a shorter 10 min video as an intro for the movie later on. But I must admit, My 1100h ain't shit against this challenge. Did the mall challenge np, cdda after a couple of tries, but this, this scares me 😄 I've already reduced the difficulty a lot, and I'm still getting caught out

no thats ok, if you downloaded the whole collection youre good. those red name mods you are seeing are included patches for different mods, in this case different gun mods.

the mod collection only uses guns of 93, so it makes sense that the other gun mods are not there, and therefore we cant enable the patch that are made for said mods
