I want to host a dedicated server from my machine, I've set port forwarding both for router and firewall, but when I check from the internet, it shows ports as closed, so nobody outside the LAN can join, can I do this with my private IP address or do I need to get a static one from the ISP or what am I doing wrong?

Is your router provided by your ISP?

Because the functionality may be paywalled or require a static IP, which likely costs an additional fee

If its as simple as getting a static IP assigned, that should be an easy fix

Static IPs usually rate an additional 5 - 25 USD per month atop the regular bill
