whenever I shove an enemy, straight away i get bitten/lacerated/etc, then after that happens zombie goes into the shove animation - why?

it's hard to show because it looks like my character is shoving the zombie after getting bitten/scratched/etc but i am indeed spamming space
I do have a few mods but they shouldn't affect combat, mostly to do with containers
also it seems not so bad in singleplayer, mostly have issues with this on my multiplayer server to which i got 30 ping
