This sounds weird, I know. But perhaps if one were to do that approach, they could tell the story of how they died and later came back to life as... An undead husk of themselves. I honestly don't know why they were wearing nothing; had to come up with my imagination on what they wore at the time.

My theory is that after they escaped a horde they got bit pretty badly that they tried everything to disinfect their wounds by ripping off their clothes to use as bandages but as expected, their efforts were futile and succumbed. Overtime, their bandages came off and that’s how they ended up like the zombie in the screenshot I think
