#Why do I always do this?

I can't help bringing home more project cars to eventually restore. I gets to this point. Now I have to build a whole warehouse to hold the collection and dismantle hundreds of cars to restore the ones I've collected.

this looks like i am legend jesus

modern lion
#

I've done worse/better on other saves... (Both of these on the same old save)

#

That wasn't even the end of it. I expanded that warehouse A LOT to fit even more cars.

#

But I have weapons and food. What else is there to do but killing zeds and collecting cars? ๐Ÿ˜„

steep ruin
#

holy... how much did you build?

twilit zephyr
#

I do the same thing lmao

modern lion
#

In those last screenshots? All of it. I started out with a house, but I built a warehouse for my cars in the adjacent field and all the cars in there are at 90%+ condition. All engines at 100% and every single one with a full tank of gas in case I have to run ๐Ÿ˜„

Gonna have to build something similar for the latest collection.

twilit zephyr
#

its a nice lil collection to have

modern lion
#

And some for no situations ofc. I don't even know why I collect those Caprice/Impala/Custom Cruisers. I just like them.

twilit zephyr
#

I like to get a few select vehicles
One for long term travel - usually a bus that can be upgraded with a generator, gas tanks, etc
one for in city travel - usually the town im stopping in to set up a shop/base
One for storage or RV that can be modified to fit storage - usually set up fridges with power to carry spoiling stuff back

my car is just

modern lion
#

The destruction car is preferably one where I can access the trunk from inside so I can store ammo/mags. I think that Jeep is one of them.

steep ruin
#

thing is, the armor i added to it is really strong and protects the hood and engine completely

#

so since i mounted it ive gotten hundreds of roadkills

modern lion
#

You can still break the armor, then the hood, then the engine. Ask me how I know ๐Ÿ˜„

#

But just bring a torch, welding mask and a couple sheets of metal. You can repair on the go!

steep ruin
#

yeah, hood armour is giving up

#

but it only costs a few bars and pipes

modern lion
#

Indeed. Just stay on top of it.

#

I mostly just collect cars cause I like cars and they're there. Chances are I will never drive the vast majority of them after I've fixed them up and put them in the collection.

twilit zephyr
#

my biggest struggle is pipes

#

I cna get sheet metal easy peasy, but god forbid pipes are so god damn hard to get lmao

#

thankfully I have a mod that allows me to take scrap metal, welding rods + metalworking skill and I can make pipes all I want

steep ruin
#

i like those burned wreck pileups for pipes, bars. sheets

#

and most importanly xp

twilit zephyr
#

my town doesn't have any, someone either came through and took them or none spawned lmao

#

though I havn't searched near the church so might be a few in the parking lot I can nab

modern lion
#

Mats are an issue every step of the way. So far I've spent most of my scrapping mats on getting solar farm up and running.

I have mods to disable burnt out wrecks. All those pileups are potential project cars. Unless it's something I don't care about or it's a horrible color I will drag it home. They're all in terrible condition though. Like less than 10% overall condition.

#

I've set my game up to high vehicle spawns, but low condition and low on survivor cars. Lots of rides, but no free rides.

steep ruin
#

im assuming you already have 10 mechanics?

modern lion
#

Yes. And electric+metalworking. A month in pretty much all skills are maxed (Including stamina and strength) apart from weapons (Melee and aim/reload)

#

Tailoring is the biggest pain to me. Ripping clothes off zeds and raiding clothing stores for mats. Such a chore.

#

But I prio raiding book stores and VHS stores in the start. Makes a huge difference in the long run to have the bonuses all the way.

steep ruin
#

heres my skills... 7 months in...

modern lion
#

Is that unmodded?

steep ruin
#

well except for lifestyle yes

#

nothing modifying my xp gain

modern lion
#

I start out the first of May usually, so you can tell by the watch how long I've been at it. Nothing to modify XP gain other than books.

#

Pretty much everything starts out at 0, though I makes sure to have enough electrical and mechanic skill at the start to hotwire vehicles.

#

And always books. Always. If don't have the book I wont do anything to increase the skill and "waste" XP.

#

I waited for ever doing electrical cause I was missing the lvl 3 book. But I collected almost 100 watches, god knows how many TV's and radios etc just waiting to find that book.

#

I do have a mod for strength, stamina and sprinting though which I think is a bit cheaty. The treadmill. But I was already at 10/10 strength and stamina and 5/10 on sprinting by the time I actually found one.

#

I have to spend around a week in a safe-ish house to heal from burn victom, broken leg and injured anyway. Plenty of time to work out as long as I get luck and find an ambulance with painkillers ๐Ÿ˜„

#

My new games are largely reliant on luck. I nerf myself A LOT in the start for the long term gains.

Almost all of them is the short answer. As long as they're pre-94. I guess "fhqwhgads", KI5 and Starfire's vehicle packs are the major ones. And the various BeamNg cars on the workshop.

#

And ofc Filibusters. Can't forget those.

#

And a mod to replace burnt out wrecks with restorable, but awful condition, cars from those packs. And another one to disable defauly cars entirely.

#

It really gives you a great variety of cars and the chances of finding two of the same is basically nill.

#

Lmao i always have a big car collection whenever i build a base in a huge warehouse

#

80% of the space in my bases are for cars

humble sundial

#

We only use filibusters, no other mod looks as natural as that

#

I want that skyline and 930 Carrera

modern lion
#

A lot of the cars I've added are just for variety and to make sure the cars I actually want are rare. As large as that collection is I've dismantled at least 3X as many as that. There are still cars I know I have in the game that I've never even seen. Example from this playthrough: I'm pretty sure the Porsche and Skyline have been been in my game for months. Never even seen them until now. Same thing with the two BMW E30's, one 4-door and the M3. Never seen them before. This is also the first game where I've managed to find a black 67 Impala just like Supernatural.

Not all the car mods are great, but they're all better than the vanilla ones and I like that the cars I actually want are rare.

#

Like that yellow Camaro next to the motorhome looks really janky. There's a Corvette as well looking equally janky and I assume it's from the same pack. The proportions are just off. But I'd rather have those than the vanilla ones ๐Ÿ˜„

Oh Yeah, the love of any car nut. being so full that you dont even know where to start. i prefer to restore the ones i like the most then i just play around the rest

thats a nice collection!

I already guessed what it is in EN's server and got it correct, I'll give you this: it's not a wagon
It's a little higher than a wagon

My next guess would be a Corolla wagon then haha

modern lion
# light coral I'm guessing you're a mechanic main

I'm a mechanic IRL and cars have been the main focus of my life ever since I can remember. Ingame I have very skill boosts as such. I usually start out as nerfed as possible and even surviving the first day let alone the week I need to heal up from burn victim, injured and broken leg takes some luck. I always go for long term gains. All skills can be gained. I just want bonuses.

That's cool! Insane start conditions too lol. That bonus xp makes a massive difference

# light coral That's cool! Insane start conditions too lol. That bonus xp makes a massive diff...

New week, new game. This save was getting too easy so I started a new one. Trying to start in West Point but I keep getting placed in the middle of West Point suburbs with houses and zeds everywhere every time which is not perfect with that many injuries. At least spawn me close to the river so I'm not surrounded! Died 3 times today, but I wont quit until I make it! Just keep starting new games and try to survive! I'm sure I'll end up the same way again with far too many cars and not enough space as always ๐Ÿ˜„

light coral
#

I don't think there's enough space in the vanilla map for you to store all those cars lol. You'd have to clear a forest for that much space but too much time lol. Keep at it though

modern lion
# light coral I don't think there's enough space in the vanilla map for you to store all those...

I usually clear forests to build storage for my cars. Both for clearing the area and for mats. I never got that far on the save I was on now though. The Riverside trailer park was an easy starting point as it turns out. Too easy. I was well established and cleared out the whole area before I even healed my injuries. Half the cars in that initial screenshot were amassed before even healing the broken leg. West Point is turning out to be quite a challenge so far, but maybe I'm just not trying hard enough/getting unlucky. Within a couple of IRL days I'm sure I'll be back where I was though. Might start a new thread for that save once I get slightly established and at least healed the injuries. Nothing much happens in the first ingame week. Just reading books, watching Life and Living and killing whatever comes near my house. Maybe looting the neighbors for food.

light coral
#

You not getting unlucky West Point is just tough cause it's loaded with zombies especially in the downtown area

modern lion
#

All three of my spawns today were pretty much in the middle of West Point. Houses and zeds on all four corners. Survived for almost a whole day clearing lots of zeds, but they just kept coming. With burn victim you can't really sleep until you're to pass out and when you're that tired and in "heavy pain" you're not that good in combat either. It's a stressful 5-6 ingame hours trying to clear the area around you, but there'll always be zeds wandering up to your house anyway. And since I'm pretty much stuck there with no weps it's a bit of a struggle two days in

light coral
#

One time I got lucky enough to spawn near the school all the way on the west side of town, was lucky enough to get a baseball bat and plenty of skill books so if I was doing what you were doing I could have chilled for a long time

modern lion
#

My first spawn today wasn't too far from the school actually. I thought it was perfect, but there were also a lot of zeds. I start depraved (Naked) and with injuries all over so I limp everywhere. Can't run and can't walk faster than zeds. Can't run at all. Fences are my friend, but once a day passes I get too tired to do any real damage even when I lure them across fences and stomp on their heads while they're down. Even with weapons I barely do any damage since I'm underweight and weak too on top of being tired, injured and in heavy pain. Most of the time on low health as well since the neck bandages eats a lot of health to replace.

But yeah, luck plays a big part in surviving like this.

#

My luckiest spawn ever was the large checker board collection. Came across a survivor house next door. If it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't have made it there. The survivor was even in there fully dressed in military gear. I gave him proper soldiers burials too with his M16A and helmet as a "headstone":

#

I was still wearing his gear and kept wearing to honor him. He gathered all the weapons and supplies I needed to live. But like I said, I honored him! That grave was always there to remind of him.
