#Server won’t setup properly

I’ve been trying to set up a Server with 1000+ mods, it’s been working with 6gb ram allocated just fine until I added maps which don’t seek to work properly at all…

And lately the mod just doesn’t load anything it seems like when it comes to maps, the logs always say the spawns don’t exist or maps don’t exist and crashes on map load.
It was working just fine earlier today and now doesn’t at all…

I deleted the steam workshop folder in zomboid so it reinstalled, I remade the server settings in case it was necessary, I did all the mods manually using mod manager and triple checked spawns and map order and all the load orders.
Maps were 90% loaded and now it just stopped loading them entirely? Why? Can someone help me set this up?

#

Pc has 16gb ram, I have 6 allocated to zomboid and 6 to server.

#

No ssd (yet), need a screw, but it was running 100% fine before maps.

vale burrow
#

over 1k mods? bruh. need more ram. also, post your Map= and spawnregions file

plush egret
#

Alright

#

And it was going just fine with current ram, though I am getting more too

vale burrow
#

post your server log

#

hope you removed any passwords from your ini file @plush egret

plush egret
vale burrow
#

@spark radish vehicle_interior should be 1st in the Map= list

#

or at least before RedstoneRaceway

#

idk about some of those other spawn zone maps, they are also special cases sometimes

plush egret
#

some of the order I was confused about since it was bottom to top it seemed like at least for muldraugh?

vale burrow
#

but i doubt that's an issue tbh. will probably work fine anywhere as long as Muldraugh, Ky is last

plush egret
#

most of them were working down to the last 30 ish maybe

plush egret
#

after the last 30 I was in the process of slowly loading them and then everything stopped working

#

and where do I disable the anti-cheats

vale burrow
#

you also didn't disable the anti-cheats

#

beat me to that point haha

#

well, listen. obviously you haven't read the workshop descriptions for all of these mods and maps you are adding

#

before people waste a lot of time helping you, i would recommend you go read every workshop description, and the 1st page of comments at least, for every mod

plush egret
vale burrow
#

i'll see you back in a couple weeks, peace

#

haha

plush egret
#

I just missed the anti cheat stuff it seems

#

because everything else was working pretty well before it started not loading any of the maps at all

vale burrow
#

pretty sure almost everyone that helps here recommends against those mod packs, and if you are adding mods on top of them then that kind of negates the point of going with the mod pack -_-

plush egret
#

it was only a map pack

#

not a full mod pack

#

but I get what you mean

vale burrow
#

if it's a recently made/updated mod pack, i wouldn't be against using it myself, but then mixing it with other maps who knows

plush egret
#

we went through a spread sheet for all the tiles and locations

#

so it's just the weird not loading thing that happened and hindered me when I was looking through the maps and fixing the stuff

#

Like what things would cause it to suddenly not load all of the maps when around 230 were already loading fine

#

vehicle interior breaking and the anti cheat would only prevent that from loading as far as the comments show, you just assumed I didn't read any of them at all from one mod

vale burrow
#

but wow, don't think i've ever seen so many spawn regions before

vale burrow
#

i'm just a random guy btw, not official support

plush egret
#

I know I just don't like getting simple dismissive answers that might make it seem like it's solved

vale burrow
#

how are you starting the server?

plush egret
#

host button

vale burrow
#

probably should use a dedicated server for a setup like this

plush egret
#

I used mod manager to do all the mods, organized them into categories so it would be easy to fix stuff and put tiles and maps towards the bottom currently

vale burrow
#

then the logs will be easier to look at too

#

this log is cut off and looks like client side

plush egret
#

It wasn't working too badly until the maps suddenly stopped loading

#

and the server log was originally coming up, but right now when I load it stops at 0/500 or whatever number

#

when it originally loaded into it and crashed I at least got a server log

#

this is the last one that was a server log

#

I thought what partly caused the error originally was the fact I kept copying to slowly remove maps from the map order so I could see what was causing it

#

so I made a new setting and put the stuff back in, plus necessary steps like reinstall and downloading mods again to see if that would fix it

plush egret
#

those also worked fine, only overwritten some of each other

#

I thought that was causing it too

#

but if I take out maps server loads fine, not even a error in the error mod between them

#

just overrides which is fine

vale burrow
#

shrug maybe it causes, exactly this issue? where things appear to work, but then later get corrupted?

#

maye that's why the mod author has a big warning

plush egret
#

maybe but I had them all in another server I did for a week or so

#

and taking them out after making a new one didnt change it

vale burrow
#

it's a very long log file haha

plush egret
#

yeah

#

plus if it would cause later corruption, that would be something that would be included with the warning no?

#

I mean you obviously can't list every error that could happen from conflict

#

but corruption would be something under that if it happened

vale burrow
#

do you really need the Excrementum mod? -_-

plush egret
#

yes it was wanted in the list

#

You should see my suffering while I have drinks more and eats more negative traits on

#

i think this is harmless, but idk

#

stack traces are usually bad things haha

plush egret
#

Most if not all of the mods were working before maps, so it is good to mention any errors that might be bad

#

but I don't think they'd be the cause of what happened, though it can often be the stuff you don't think would cause it so idk

#
  1. Clothing, Weapons, Top order-Priority mods
  2. Cars
  3. Tiles, Ui, Set mods (Braven as example)
  4. Loot, Crates, items spawns
  5. Maps
#

this is about the system I followed

#

excluding dependencies

#

those always went where they needed unless I missed some

vale burrow
#

the number of exceptions i am seeing is kind of concerning

plush egret
#

yeah I tried to fix most

vale burrow
#

lot of these

plush egret
#

there was a lot

vale burrow
#

i used this mod before and had 0 exceptions, not sure why you have so many

plush egret
#

might be the overlapping clothes mods

vale burrow
#

and some other mods

#

many on Callframe at: setExclusive

plush egret
#

I could of gotten the order a bit wrong but I planned to go back and do that later since after extended play the error mod shows which overlap/conflict

vale burrow
#

something is messing up setExclusive

#

mod orders in Mods= doesn't matter too much except for patches

plush egret
#

that's why I just followed an organized system

#

which helps with organizing errors and when stuff overrides

#

just because the order doesn't matter doesn't mean you shouldn't practice good organizing habits

vale burrow
#

i hear ya

#

have you wiped the save yet?

plush egret
#

yeah I've deleted world and save always

#

my character ones too

#

never seen that before

#

might want to just delete the db file (or move it just in case )

plush egret
#

oh that might be one of the errors

#

the game didnt delete all of them now that I look in there

#

I'll try that next

#

and run it again while you keep reading

vale burrow
#

i still advise to move to a dedicated server

plush egret
#

Those either cost money or need more ram/second computer to run though don’t they

#

or a result that basically has same quality as host button

#

I’ll switch if it ends up being a have to, but it’s only 4 people or less at all times if that

vale burrow
#

that's not what i meant

#

i mean launch the "Dedicated Server" instead of using Host button in-game

#

doesn't need a separate PC or anything

plush egret
#

Oh then I can try that next after I fix the map problem

vale burrow
#

wipe the save and db file and lets see if that fixes it

plush egret
#

Yeah im trying it now

#

it’s been loading while we chat im just using the phone now

#

I get a black screen every so often

vale burrow
#

just don't cancel the initialization haha

#

anyways, i think i might let someone take over from here, and go play PZ myself

plush egret
#

Nope it still wasn’t those things either, it’s weird because it was very sudden and only after I had removed/deleted the steamworkshop folder according to other guides online and let it redownload

plush egret
#

How long will I have to wait, I’ve been trying to get it to work for days now from all the mods added

molten jacinth
plush egret
#

It’s been playing just fine apart from maps though

#

Only the maps are what i’ve had issues with no lag even either

#

and those were even working before I tried to fix the last 30

plush egret
#

the only lag I ever get is click to start loading and after that it’s flawless

molten jacinth
plush egret
#

I know sometimes it’s easy to just be blunt and say use less but sometimes pushing limits ends well

#

1ms ping too

molten jacinth
# plush egret

Localhost is not proof

1ms ping means its your server

1k mod servers are all trash

Not possible

You arent fooling anyone

plush egret
#

Well you have fun with that

molten jacinth
#

I have a solution for this

plush egret
#

I don’t think it’ll be a problem with 2 people

plush egret
#

I didn't see that on steam it was replied to, so I put the files there as well

#

It never notified me with the reply

agile coral
# plush egret

It looks like there is an issue saving the server which caused the crash, it specifies the Global Mod Data as being the cause. Do you have enough free space on your C drive?

plush egret
#

Is it possible something reads the memory wrong?

agile coral
#

Could be an issue with one of the mods. Try running the /save command to see if that causes the crash

plush egret
#

Wait i’ll just google that part

vale burrow
#

You do it in the server console, or as an admin in game

#

Or via rcon

plush egret
#

If I can access without loading

plush egret
#

I’ll have the people i’m playing with make a small server too to check

plush egret
#

I also got more ram and a m.2 ssd lately so i’ll probably try again after installing

plush egret
#

Moment of truth

#

I got 4tb of space and 64gb of ram

#

lets see if it crashes again

plush egret
#

Not a storage problem it still happened

vale burrow
#

SSD?

plush egret
#

7000 write speed too

#

I’m doing a full reinstall next

#

deleted workshop folder too

#

whole zomboid folder and just kept saves and server

plush egret
#

Full reinstall done

#

will it be fixed??? who knows

#

but it has 16gb of ram for the server

plush egret
#

Nope still lost connection

#

@vale burrow [28-11-23 23:57:42.087] LOG : Mod , 1701237462087> refusing to list examplemod.

#

is this normal?

#

I know it's a map mod that

#

causes it too

#

because muldraugh at top it loads and functions fine while a bunch of map mods just updated

plush egret
#

Somehow the game broke

#

because my sister’s mods loaded in the same load order

#

but crashed for me in singleplayer

#

I reinstalled the game, verified files, redid the mods etc

#

and it doesn’t work

#

somehow

agile coral
#

I would recommend testing your mods in that case, it looks to be a mod issue

plush egret
#

buys 64gb of ram

#

forgets to give game more ram

plush egret
#

Now i’m getting server timeout though

plush egret
#

is it possible the server folder is corrupted somehow?

#

It seems it loads in singleplayer after properly allocating everything, when it crashed before

#

but doesn’t load in the server

plush egret
#

I pinpointed it that far

#

because if I use muldraugh to overwrite the maps the server loads

#

But I can’t tell which map broke it because 99% of them loaded before

agile coral
#

I do not think I can help you find out how something happpens, as I am not the creator of the mod nor have modding experience

#

I can just help fix it by telling you to remove the mod

plush egret
plush egret
#

Okay

#

this is the newest log

#

I managed to get it to load after removing 2/3rds of the maps like I did before

#

so one or two are breaking

plush egret
#

@vale burrow If I narrowed down the list of maps to 20 ish and the ones I think are causing problems do you think you could help me figure out the issue

plush egret
#

SZ_Battlefield_Louisville_Airfield;SZ_Battlefield_Louisville_Hospital;SZ_Battlefield_Louisville_Stadium;SZ_Checkpoint_2;SZ_Checkpoint_3;SZ_Checkpoint_5;SZ_Checkpoint_6;SZ_Checkpoint_7;SZ_Checkpoint_8;SZ_EVAC_Louisville;SZ_EVAC_Muldraugh;SaveOurStation_KnoxCountry_World;SecretZ_Core;SecretZ_Core_v2;Hunter'sBase_map;ranger's_homestead_map;SLEOSpawn;Shortrest County;Southwood2.0;Speck;spencermansionlootable;St Paulo;Studio, KY;SurvivorCampMap;TeraMart;The Compound;TheEyeLake;The Frigate;The Mall FIXED - use this;PrisonTWD;The Yacht;The Museum;Tikitown;TrimbleCountyPowerStation;Tugaland

#

these are the ones that break it, if I remove them it loads and runs really well even

#

Muldraugh Fire Department;MuldraughCheckpoint;OSMuldraughKY;OSRiversideKY;OSRosewoodKY;OSWestPointKY;Muldraugh, KY

#

this is what comes after tugaland, but these don't break it, this is just in case it's a cause somehow

plush egret
#

I have successfully gotten all maps to load

#

well

#

minus 6 of them

#

but whats -6 when you have 254

vale burrow
#

Lol

#

Respect. That's a lot of maps

plush egret
#

Yeah now im just adding the last 300 mods
