why

iron owl
mint brook
#

hosting within cmd

#

public is true

#

i checked it

#

but still not working

iron owl
mint brook
#

yeah

#

not a diff pc

iron owl
mint brook
#

yeah i did all

#

i did everything correctly

#

but it doesnt work

iron owl
mint brook
#

ill maybe retry, maybe i did something wrong

iron owl
mint brook
#

what is that

iron owl
# mint brook what is that
  1. Google if your router + router model number supports DHCP
  2. If it does, find the DHCP menu
  3. In the DHCP menu, reserve the IP of your PC
mint brook
#

ok

#

what if i dont have dhcp

#

what do i do then

iron owl
#

By default, 16261 and 16262

mint brook
#

and if it does?

iron owl
mint brook
#

i enabled access

iron owl
mint brook
#

i had it enabled when i started the server the first time

#

i meant

iron owl
#

The world name*

mint brook
#

it was Last Stand Dedicated

#

let me restart it

#

LastStandDedicatedServer now

#

i thought the spaces were the problem

iron owl
#

You get all the way down to the start log where it has lines about discord?

mint brook
#

its near

#

around here it starts

#

yeah

#

it should be on

iron owl
#

Nevermind, best luck figuring it out

prisma dew
#

Is anyone able to connect to it?

mint brook
#

With IP, they should

#

i can connect to it with my IP

#

The only issue with that is that i got no vpn, soo i would want it to appear on the internet server browser instead

#

and it won't

#

I've tried for hours

prisma dew
#

If people can connect to it, then it is in the server browser

#

Are you certain you used all the applicable filters when searching for it

mint brook
#

i am very sure

#

i can add it with my own LAN ip (through favorites), but cannot find it on the browser

#

(the server is turned off in this case, but i can connect when it is on with my LAN IP only)

prisma dew
#

What is the server name in that case

mint brook
#

LastStandDedicatedServer ( i thought the spaces were the problem)

#

It was just Last Stand Dedicated (i created it for my group )

#

i can start it rn

prisma dew
#

Sure

mint brook
#

one second

#

i'll have to censor my lan ip

prisma dew
#

Every person has the same LAN IP range

#

Mine is 192.168.0.5

#

You cannot do anything with it

mint brook
#

i meant the long strip of numbers and letters, local ip *

prisma dew
#

You mean your.. public IP?

#

That one is public, as it's name implies

#

I can see it anyway

mint brook
#

no lower one

#

local

#

posting the video

prisma dew
#

Right, local one does not need to be censored

mint brook
#

might take a min or 2

prisma dew
#

Everyone has the same local range

mint brook
#

about using it for my group

prisma dew
#

Either way, I am not sure what you mean about a video

mint brook
#

to join?

prisma dew
#

You just need to start the server

mint brook
#

oh for the video, it is just to prove that i can join through ip but cannot find it

#

on browser

prisma dew
#

I can clearly see that you did not refresh the Internet tab and that you are not using the applicable filters either

#

You have all the filters disabled

#

Your server is a 32+ player server

mint brook
#

i have to enable that too?

prisma dew
#

Meaning you need to enable the Show Higher Player Count Servers filter

mint brook
#

i didn't know

#

let me see again

#

the only one that shows is not mine

#

and yes, i did try using "show servers running different versions " just incase

prisma dew
#

Did you not say that you changed the name to "LastStandDedicatedServer"

mint brook
#

I tried that too

#

nothing showed

#

after

#

i refreshed

#

i made sure

#

i'll try one more time

#

new name

prisma dew
#

I see, can your friends join then?

#

Since you never said if they ccan

#

You only say "they should"

mint brook
#

if i can join, they can probably too with the local ip

#

i was a bit scared to test it

prisma dew
#

That is not how it works, no

#

Unless, your friends share the same network as you?

#

Are they roommates?

mint brook
#

no

prisma dew
#

Local IP = Local Network = Your house

mint brook
#

OH

prisma dew
#

Public IP = Everything else

mint brook
#

i didn't realise

#

oh yeah we tried public ip

#

it didnt work

#

do we have to change it

#

for it to be unique

prisma dew
#

That is your main problem then

#

Did you port forward the necessary ports?

mint brook
#

i did

prisma dew
#

Both in your firewall and router?

mint brook
#

i followed a tutorial

prisma dew
#

16261 and 16262, both UDP protocol

mint brook
#

i did the router

#

let me check my firewall

#

the tutorial didn't say anything about the firewall

#

soo i just assumed it was the router only

#

i created the "new rule" for the forwarding

#

and set it to what you've said

prisma dew
#

The rule should be in the Inbound rules

mint brook
#

yeah

#

i did it there

#

Forwarding is the rule

prisma dew
#

It is generally recommended to have separate rules instead of ranges

#

Meaning 16261 as one rule 16262 as a second rule

#

On your router as well

mint brook
#

yeah i didnt see anything about that when i made the forwarding on the router

#

ill make a new rule for it

#

on the firewall

#

should i restart the server now?

prisma dew
#

Generally should not be necessary

#

Try connecting with your Public IP now

#

Local IP stays empty

mint brook
#

okay

#

it showed like normal in the favorites tab

#

test is the one without

#

and upper is the one with

#

it's giving me errors for refreshing the internet tab

prisma dew
#

You are not using your Public IP though

#

That is your local one

mint brook
#

127.0.0.1 is the server ip

#

local ip is empty

prisma dew
#

I know, 127.0.0.1 is not a public IP

#

That is your public one

mint brook
#

i see

#

yeah it doesnt work with public

#

it is either me being dumb or idk

#

i've kinda lost it at this point

prisma dew
#

If it does not work with public, it means the ports are not open

mint brook
#

UPnP was disabled

#

that was the problem i think

#

idk

#

nvm

#

i didn't find LAN

prisma dew
#

What do you mean by LAN

mint brook
#

the article stated that in there

#

i was reading it

prisma dew
#

Skip to just finding out the double nat via CMD

mint brook
#

only one ip came and rest were "request timeouts"

#

and one dns.google

#

seems like i dont have double nat

prisma dew
#

Request timeouts do not sound good.. there should be at least several IPs

#

What is the second IP there?

mint brook
#

this was all

#

i can run another one]\

#

yeah still goes the same

prisma dew
#

I have honestly not see this one yet

#

Are you running any sort of VPN perhaps? Or do you have two routers in your home?

#

Alternatively, do you have any sort of extra security in your router?

#

Since the main issue now is that something is blocking access to your PC, because ther server itself is running fine

#

So that is no longer an issue, the issue now is that the ports are blocked either by your firewall, your router, your router firewall, your router security settings or even your internet service provider

#

So we have to go through each of those

mint brook
#

I have no vpn or extra security
