#Getting "Error 8" on joining server

When joining my friends server after all mods are loaded and the "this is how you died stuff" comes up my screen goes black except for a little red box in bottom right that says error 8. im the only one in the group to have this problem

I now realize thats the number of errors not an error code. I deleted and redownloaded the entire modlist which managed to cut the errors to 4, and disabled crash on debug to get into the game. got in and immediately started racking up thousands of errors, game was at like 10 fps. wandered for like 10 minutes and got up to 222k errors, no clue why

Connect with a different username to the server, your character likely got corrupted due to some mods

Is there a way to change my in game username or do I have to change my steam name. Also it still happens on joining single player with the same mod list if that says anything

Just to understand, you are not even able to play singleplayer with the same mods?

Can you join other servers?

I havent tried other servers, but none have the same mod list. I can force myself in in singleplayer by disabling break on error but they still pile up insanely fast

You can try wiping your game if you are the only one with the issues.

First, uninstall the game, then go to "Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid" and make sure there are no leftover files or folders there.
After that, go to “C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid” and delete everything there except the “Saves” folder.
Then just install the game again and see if that helps.

I did this, still 4 errors after clicking start

I have 0 clue what to do at this point, is there a way of figuring out which mod is the problem?

Which looks like an inventory / character issue

If you have any mods that add items to your inventory or if you have any that add traits

im pretty sure there are mods that do both, though it doesnt make sense im the only one getting those errors

Which is why I asked if you created the exact same character

If you are picking specific modded traits / items / occupations while no one else it, it would only happen to you

It didn’t even let me create a character, but I have played on the server before, and the mod list may have been changed between then. Could my character be deleted somehow?

I mean can it be deleted now as a possible fix. also, change steam name or does the game have a server name I can change?
