The maximum allowed is 16 players, but I think the highest I've seen is 7 people on at once.
Most people give up after dying once or twice in the spawn town of Muldraugh, so maybe try and get a friend to join you so you are not alone.

Zombies can open doors into your safehouses, you're never safe
Safehouse respawns were removed, the owner threw a fit and disabled it
You can ONLY use vanilla respawns, so if you die in louisville or outside the main cities you're gg;d and would need to walk through -100c temperatures and sprinters just to try and recover your lost gear
Owner and admins ignored the crashes and problems day1 of server wipe, and instead started banning people asking for help and warning others

He was banned for misconduct, continiously being obnoxious about the most recent changes in our Discord and ignoring our request to create a ticket. We'd like to address the points raised for clarity and assurance to our current and future players:
- Server Location: Coldwinds is hosted in Germany, optimized for performance. While some players outside Europe may experience higher pings, we continually work to ensure a stable experience for our global player base.
- Server Stability: We take reports of crashes and inventory issues seriously. Any reported instances are promptly investigated. While we strive for a seamless experience, the nature of the game can sometimes lead to unforeseen issues. Having said that, the server did indeed crash when more and more people started to pour in. We have dealt with the issue in a prompt manner and returned stability as soon as we could.
- Zombie Behavior & Safehouses: Our server settings are designed for a hardcore survival experience. Zombies in Coldwinds do present a constant threat, including the ability to breach unsecured areas. This is part of the challenging environment we aim to provide.
- Safehouse Respawn: The decision to remove safehouse respawns was made to enhance the survival experience and avoid exploits. Players can respawn in designated main cities, adding to the game's strategic and survival elements.
- Support & Communication: We prioritize open communication and support. Our team is dedicated to assisting players and addressing concerns as they arise. If any player feels their issues are not being heard, we encourage them to reach out directly for resolution.
We understand that our server's hardcore settings may not be for everyone, but we are committed to providing a challenging and fair environment for all players. We invite constructive feedback and are always open to community suggestions.

You were the only one that got a warning (yes, you received one incl. a Discord server mute) and was banned, Mesh. Please don't take it out on the server. You were warned and you ignored it. Your behaviour was detrimental to yourself, the community and the server as a whole and you got banned for it.
We reached out to people who lost items and gave them a chance to create a ticket and receive them back, all was dealt with orderly. We had a blast with the opening of Season 2.

Ping limit was temporarily raised - not disabled - to help facilitate server entry for people outside of Europe with a poor connection. Like with every server launch, some things don't go right right away - especially if you're as lucky as we were with tons more people joining than initially anticipated. You need to balance things out, including server configuration. Season 2 has not been here for a day yet, but we feel very confident that we've managed to find that balance already. You're welcome to try it out. 🙂

- 🥘 You will struggle with surviving and food, so be prepared.
- 🏃♂️ A really good amount of zeds overall with an additional small sprinter threat.
- It doesn't kill you but keeps you on track.
- Some are intelligent and can open doors, making the game WAY more interesting.
Loot settings were a bit too abundant in the last season, but this season it was lowered.- 🍖Love the struggle for food.
- 📔 No skill journal, and I love it!
- 💀 Death is meaningful in this server, you are forced to try everything to stay alive.
- 🎭Sadly no real RP folks on the server and I would love to see more RP oriented gameplay

- 📣 Really good tweaks according to player input for the new season.
- 📍Additional spawn points were created, and safehouse spawn was disabled, which I really like! No more dying in the middle of nowhere and just respawning in a safe environment.

- 🔄 Will be expanded after I try the new season in the next couple of days.

UPDATE: A few alterations have been made to slightly decrease the overall difficulty on Coldwinds in order to strike a better balance between "nigh impossible to survive" to "it's the hardest challenge I've yet faced, but I stand a chance".
- The permanent snowstorm has been replaced by frequent snowstorms.
- Temperatures have again been altered to mitigate the extremely harsh survival conditions. This is in your favour.
- As a seasonal boon, new characters will now spawn in with a Christmas Hat!
- Improvised Backpacks have been added.
- Lighting cigarettes has been made easier.
- Collecting stuff around you has been made easier thanks to Braven's Obvious Collecting mod.
- Car Battery Chargers can now be crafted.

I had looted around a bit, then attracted a large group and had to use evasive maneuvers through much of Riverside before finally getting to a relatively secure location. Started up a campfire, things were chill and my dude was starting to warm up. Walked into the next room to check for anything of use and got jump scared by the terrifying screech of a sprinter. Sprinter bit me while I was still recovering from the scare. Killed the sprinter, realized I was bit, went back by my fire and started stripping my gear. Left it in a bag. Wrote a journal entry and placed it next to the bag.
Coldwinds never ceases to provide me with challenge and entertainment. 10/10, would die again.
