me and my mate wanted to play zomboid so I tried to load up our server but it got stuck at 'getting server info' , I've searched it up and tried the things that people have said but none of them worked, the server is not a new server it is at least 5 weeks old and we are not willing to delete it to fix the problem

How are you starting the server exactly?
And can you share your logs.zip file found in C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid?

neat basalt
#

I'm starting it through zomboid

#

also should i just copy and paste the whole logs.zip file?

uncut gazelle
#

Yes

neat basalt
#

ok

neat basalt
#

have you reviewed the file?

Does the server launch fine when you disable all the mods?

neat basalt
#

I haven't tried that

#

ill try it in a bit

neat basalt
uncut gazelle
#

Yes, create a new settings file so you start a new server instead as a test

neat basalt
#

ok

#

do you want me to disable the mods or just make a server without the mods on it?

#

@uncut gazelle

uncut gazelle
#

A new server without the mods

#

Because if that server works, it confirms that the issue is caused by the mods

Then retry

neat basalt
#

ok

#

i deleted it, restarted the game and it got stuck at getting server info again

uncut gazelle
#

And can you try restarting your PC

neat basalt
#

I tried joining other servers and they all got stuck at 'getting server info'

uncut gazelle
#

Do the restart then

#

And make sure to launch the game through Steam

neat basalt
#

ok

#

I tried it and it got stuck at getting server info

uncut gazelle
#

Could you share the logs again?

#

The last ones you sent are stuck at loading a mod specifically

#

Which should no longer happen

neat basalt
#

ok

Did you change anything on your PC recently? Install anything new?

#

Any sort of antivirus

neat basalt
#

no

uncut gazelle
#

So you just started the game one day and suddenly you cannot connect to any server?

#

I would recommend disabling any background applications you have then

#

If that does not help, I would likely recommend contacting your internet provider to check if there are any issues with your network

#

Since the logs just show you trying to connect to the server and then cancelling the connection

neat basalt
#

btw would uninstalling the game and reinstalling it do anything?

#

its the only thing i can think of

uncut gazelle
#

You can certainly try, though it looks like a connection error, there seems nothing wrong in the game logs

#

Just that you try to connect, it waits for a while, and then you cancel the connection

#

As if something was just blocking you from connecting

neat basalt
#

ok

#

ty

neat basalt
uncut gazelle
#

It would not, the server is saved in a separate folder

#

User/Zomboid by default

neat basalt
#

ok thx

#

will i have to reinstall all of my mods?

uncut gazelle
#

A game reinstall also reinstalls all the mods.

neat basalt
#

ok

neat basalt
#

i went on the server and it connected but its telling me i need to make a new character, I googled it and it said if i make a new character ill just appear in my old character. Is that true?

#

@uncut gazelle

uncut gazelle
#

Which server are you referring to?

#

Making a new character just makes a new character

neat basalt
#

on the server that originally had the problem

#

the one me and my friend play on

uncut gazelle
#

Are you sure you are loading the old one and did not select a different settings name?

#

Since you were testing them before

neat basalt
#

im sure

#

i did rename the server tho

uncut gazelle
#

Yeah that is not a thing

#

Renaming a server creates a new server

#

You have to use the old name to load into your server

neat basalt
#

oh ok

#

ill change the name back

#

YES

#

it works
