I joined a friend's world and I spawned in the same place that I logged off but don't have any of my things and my characters looks completely different, is there any way to get my character back or am I just cooked?

The character is likely lost, but you can try reloading several times to try and fix it

Is there no way to prevent this in the future? We did use several clothing/inventory overhaul mods as well as more traits
