even if i play with lets say, 10-15 mods, some being QOL mods others adding guns and new features. before it worked like a charm being able to run at least 75-100 mods, but now it struggles and crashes on 10-15, i basically have to play the game fully zoomed in to have a chance

Experiencing Some Stutters?

It might be a lack of RAM issue.

On your gaming PC....

    1. Close project zomboid entirely.
    1. Open steam
    1. Open the project zomboid steam page
    1. On the right side of the screen, click on the small gear icon.
    1. Scroll to Manage
    1. Select Browse Local Files
    1. Scroll down in this folder until you find ProjectZomboid64.json
    1. Right click on that file and open it with Note Pad
    1. Scroll down in that file until you find the section with the header VMargs
    1. Find the sub-line under that header labeled Xmx3072m
    1. Highlight "3072m" and replace it with "8g"
    1. After the change, the line should read "Xmx8g",
    1. Close the file and accept changes
    1. Project Zomboid is now allowed to use up to 8gb of RAM rather than only 3gb.

NOTE: If your PC system only has 8gb of RAM total, then change the value to "4g". Players with 16gb+ of RAM are fine to allocate 8gb to PZ.

Community guide that is convoluted.
