#"Server Failed To Respond" or "Connection Failed" when trying to join with PlayIt IP and Port.

Not sure if anyone is too familiar with PlayIt but I asked around in their discord too and couldn't get a solid answer. The dedicated server is running on another PC of mine and can be joined with its local IP so it should be working... PlayIt seems to get the join attempt as it lists an inbound connection when attempting but it seems it can't forward it to Zomboid as the server isn't detectable when trying to join via PlayIt IP/port.

Sometimes it'll seem to forward the connection to Zomboid (it'll show attempting steam connection and authorizing with steam...) but then throw up the "Connection Failed" message anyways. I have no clue how to recreate this as it seems random but when it does happen, the server CMD says that a player, "ID=null, password=null" has attempted to join but then got timed out as it "couldn't be found." Now the server CMD doesn't show any messages when trying to join, as if nothing is even happening.

I've allowed the ports through the windows firewall and the last thing I can think of (but trying to avoid) is to port forward the ports on my router and just skip PlayIt altogether. Only reason I haven't done this is for network security reasons. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! I've been at this for days...

This is what the server CMD reads on the rare off chance that it does seem to forward the connection attempt from PlayIt to Zomboid

"user" part of logs has this;

[13-07-23 04:28:31.632] added connection index=0 <IP ADDRESS>.
[13-07-23 04:28:43.975] null "null" removed connection index=0.

I am not really familiar with PlayIt

#

How is the server installed exactly? Just to rule out any issues with that

Used SteamCMD to download the files for the server and using StartServer64.bat to run

Yes. The same exact process/error seems to happen...🥴

Are you able to connect to the server yourself in that case?

#

Using the Local IP

Yup. The server is up and I can join it locally. It also seems to work with just forwarded ports and using my IPv4 but something about Project Zomboid/Steam and PlayIt seems to conflict... I've just kept trying because I've seen old posts of people saying they somehow got it to work.

Hm, I am not exactly sure if I can specifically help in that case if the server itself works perfectly fine outside of PlayIt

You may try using this server setting and using the PlayIt IP:

# Set the IP from which the server is broadcast. This is for network configurations with multiple IP addresses, such as server farms
