In my 1.5k hours, I've tried out many servers, and now I have finally found an amazing and unique hardcore server with awesome people around!

Every day on the server feels like a new episode from The Walking Dead, but with the 28 Days Later zombies.

The characters truly come alive because everyone is invested in creating a compelling story and engaging interactions with each other. The hardcore settings force the survivors to cooperate with one another. Also the staff is really friendly and will gladly help you.

This is the type of server which you join, try it out, think its wayyy too hard but you keep on trying and keep on dying. After 5-6 failed attempts you leave it because its too hard but then you come back less then 2 hours later because this server made you appreciate what really HARDCORE means, and you can never go back. I have summed up atleast 200+ hours on this server alone. I tried multiple other servers that call themselves hardcore and none of them live up to PURGATORY's standards.

ANYONE SCARED OF PVP:

On our server, the hardcore settings heavily influence gameplay.
Almost all have chosen to either work together or try it solo
We have had less than 10 total PvP encounters during the entire life time of our server
Detailed KoS rules prevent grieving , and allow for your character to be revived if someone acted outside of our guidelines

Been playing here a few days and after bouncing around from server to server trying to find a nice fit for me i finally founda good server here not only is pvp a rarity here because of the difficulty of the server itself also the staff here are very active and are willing to listen and are quite respectful the only thing missing in this server is you. we need more ppl and i think you wont be disappointed if you have any questions you can ask or join the discord and read up on the very throughly laid out ruleset and expectations the server has i hope to see some more true survivors soon this server will test you.

In 97', an unidentified military group entered Camden. Mayor Liam of Ingles Dam urgently radioed the Reclaimers for assistance, seeking help defending the area against these unknown aggressors.

While Sheriff Dwight hesitated to involve the Reclaimers, he declined the request to protect his people. While this discussion was happening, William led a small group during a supply run at a warehouse. Radioing to William, Sheriff Dwight ordered him to return to base.

While departing the warehouse, William and his team unexpectedly encountered the hostile military group. There was a tense standoff, both sides sizing each other up with caution. But before any communication could occur, a sudden burst of gunfire erupted in combination with vocal commands, catching William and his team off guard. To William, this group was no longer unknown but a group he believed to be Russian. The Russians showed no hesitation in opening fire, overwhelming the Reclaimers.

Amid the chaos, William ordered his men to escape and evade, prioritizing their safety over retaliation. Though it came at a heavy loss, with the loss of his fellow Reclaimers, William managed to lead a few survivors back to safety.

Haunted by the lives lost and burdened with survivor's guilt, William carried the weight of the fallen on his shoulders. His grief succumbed to hate, vowing to protect the Reclaimers from everyone. The results of the invasive force have made William extremely skeptical of outsiders entering the Reclaimer's territory.

Did you read the rules? You can actually kill someone without talking to them placing an "Assassination" ticket. We just don't tolerate murder hobos.

Power-hungry mods? The mods are players, too, that do this for enjoyment. They make zero profit from running this server. Your best chance is finding a server purely dedicated to PvP. But I appreciate you talking shit on the server.

Loot settings are scarce, with respawn rates not to detour new joins. We have a claiming system, but it still allows players to raid. Rules are flexible to allow players to make decisions when they want/need to. The majority of zombies are joggers. We offer permadeath, with these settings can be difficult for new joins at first. Once you figure out the mechanics, it's doable and will make any other server easy in comparison.

Traders are starting to come online! Right click on the mannequin and select the [Shop] option. Unique dialogue is also being implemented(wip); select [Interact with NAME] from the right click menu. Expect to see a similar setup with unique specialties at each starter faction in the near future.
