Co-op backup restoration doesn't restore characters | Project Zomboid | Page 1

One of our characters died to a bug after several weeks in-game of grinding. Backing up the multiplayer save doesn't seem to restore the characters.

To restore a backup, I am:

Opening backup_1 (the most recent backup) from the Zomboid/backups/period folder
Unzipping the file into the Zomboid folder
Overwriting all existing files

The "players.db" file contains the player characters, it should be located in the "db" folder

You need to restore that one

thanks for your response!

looking in both the backup file and the "db" folder on the save itself, neither have a "players.db" file - here's what the backup looks like:

(Killing Floor is the name of the server config)

taking that database file out of the backup and overwriting the database file on the server did not appear to do anything

Hm, well that is not good

Means the player backup was not created
