World:
Utilizing the ten years later mod, explore an overgrown city of Louisville and the southern outskirts of Valley Station, absolutely overrun with infected and other dangers. Weapons are more durable and can dish out more punishment before needing repairs, but loot is scarce. Each time you depart the safety of your hideout or faction base, you will feel immensely vulnerable and on edge.
Infected:
Infected overrun the streets and present a threat, as they will relentlessly hop over fences and through windows to pursue you. They are fast on their feet, but you can outrun them… for a while. Melee combat is best utilized only against no more than two - more than that, and you are asking for a swift death. Should a pack of them notice you, your only choices are to run or take them out from a distance and risk the noise of the gunshot drawing more infected. The infection is far more terrifying than vanilla PZ: While it is transferred through bites only, your character will succumb in seconds, similar to the rage virus of 28 Days Later.
Roleplay:
In addition to a brutally unforgiving PvE experience, we at Purgatory encourage our players to roleplay every scenario possible for enjoyment and immersion’s sake. So whether you choose to live as another survivor living within the safety of a large-scale player faction, a nomadic group of bandits targeting others for their supplies, or a lone wolf scraping by day by day, taking out bounties or other odd jobs from established groups, the choice is yours.
Intro:
The year is 1997, almost four years since the Papua virus wreaked havoc across the Americas. Small pockets of civilization exist, some good, some bad, and some straight barbaric. The luxuries of a power grid and running water are a thing of the past. Food is grown, hunted, and canned if lucky. The majority of civilization has been rotted to its core. Hope is a constant struggle, yet sometimes you've seen jets flying in the sky, reassuring you that things may get better. You are currently located in Kentucky, just south of Louisville, for reasons only known to you. You are a survivalist that made it out during the outbreak.
