#I need serious help with the performance in the game.

Being a tile based game is heavily CPU intensive, and yeah I feel you. I have an i7 8750h and 1060 on my laptop that can play VR games perfectly yet I generally consider myself running fast when I get 30fps in this game... To the point I have a hard time driving the cars when the frame rate is actually good and the cars suddenly go much faster.
The irony is my old 4770k and 760 with 6gb ram handle the game good.

I found that I sometimes get the low frames and it doesn't go away so a quick quit and rejoin seems to fix it. Going from 4fps back to like 16 is nice when you know you aren't in an area that should be causing it.

Remove any major game impact mods that take up large space (yes that means britas) and slowly add mods in to see what changes performance.

Hopefully the next release is good and does away with the majority of tile stuff.

PS don't have a lot of stuff on the floor. My base is pretty slow on my server because of all the stuff everywhere but in a fresh game it handles well.

Performance slowdown due to clutter and a lot of things on screen is normal especially due to a heavily unoptimized game like PZ.

My problem is my rig and other software crashing due to the game, awful framerate I can handle, but crashing is where I have a problem.

Can you share your logs.zip file found in C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid if the game crashes again?

Sure yeah, that's what I'm trying to replicate right now. I am once again adding mods little by little to see if it happens.

Well, after two days of testing and re-adding every mod little by little I'm 100% convinced it's hardware or software. This time I couldn't replicate my system crashing BUT, I was getting an insane amount of freezing, stuttering and my system was also suffering from this meaning even the video I had running in the background was freezing. I couldn't manage to crash the game this time even though it's identical to what I did last but whatever. Here are the logs.

@faint iris

#

The logs are from the last test.

I recommend resetting any RAM assignment

uncut mist
#

I did that.

faint iris
#

Additionally, there seem a ton of mods loaded, did you test the freezing without any mods as well?

uncut mist
#

Just to see if there's a difference but there was none.

#

You're talking about the 10gigs ram allocation right?

faint iris
#

Yes

#

Leave it default, allocating more RAM can actually hurt performance

uncut mist
#

Obviously the framerate was worse with all the mods added in but that's to be expected.

Can you share the latest “hs_err_pid” file found in your main game folder “Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid” as well?

uncut mist
#

This should be the latest.

Thanks for your help btw, I appreciate your time.

It seems to be Nvidia related, perhaps a driver issue

#

Can also come from overclocking, if you have done anything like that?

#

Though this is of course a crash log, meaning this is just looking into the crash issue, not the performance issue

#

But any driver issue may also cause slowdown

uncut mist
#

I guess I can try re-installing the drivers and try again.

uncut mist
#

Okay, performance is better but freezing for 0.2 milliseconds on zed hit with melee weapon persists.

uncut mist
#

I'm happy the crashing stopped.

faint iris
#

As far as I know, the zed hit freezing is mainly caused by a mod

@faint iris hello, where can i post crash logs? I need help lol
