#HELP - Dedicated Server World Error

My boyfriend has hosted a dedicated server since last year with little to no trouble. Now, he's having an error where, whenever he joins, the world seems to reset. Instead, if our friends or I join before him, we see our base and everything normal.

Any idea on what could be causing this?

I made a Reddit post where I quote two other posts explaining the exact same issue, with no other solution than to wipe the whole server, unsubscribe from all mods and reinstall the game.

We would love to save/recover our progress. Appreciate any help!

If you want to go through a little less trouble on the mods thing, create a collection on steam workshop of all your mods so you can easily re-subscribe to them all.

As for the main issue, if that’s the only solution you can find, it is likely THE only solution. Unsubscribing from every mod is easier by going to profile > workshop > subscriptions > filter by game (at the top) > unsubscribe from all

Afterwards, I would verify integrity rather than uninstall. If that doesn’t work, delete every file within your PZ folder and verify integrity again, which will essentially act as a fresh install.

From there, your best bet is seeing if it’s a mere game issue (this happens without mods) and if not, you need to see if you have a mod incompat or a kaput mod

Thank you very much @zealous compass! Earlier today we actually tried a fresh install and unsubscribing from all mods, but when using the server backup the problem persisted. So my guess is whatever the corrupt file is, it is on the server.

Well then, guess you’ll have to delete the server. Did your boyfriend join after the rest of the zomboid group, or did you all start at the same time?

We tried joining before him and the map loaded right. Then he joined after and any region he went to would be resetted. If he joins before everyone, the whole map resets. Basically, his world is somehow corrupt and it overrides our saves.

I swear it's the first time we face this error on about a year of hosting our own server and modding it.

I'm dealing with a similar issue but most of the world (eg houses, zombies, items in places) all reset whenever we close the server for the day

Did all that but it seems we've given up on the game after 3 days of struggles

Since I swear this is the fourth similar case, I am starting to be confused if its the same people posting it or if there is a pandemic of errors.
