if you play with chinese language and then switching to english, then there is no way to reverse this
if you play with English UI, the font doesn't support chinese characters
that's why it shows nothing

You may need to install a font mod that support both Chinese and English
People on my friend's server also face this problem, so I created a font mod that supports both English and Thai

But I'm not sure if there is this kind of mod for Chinese though. I'm not familiar with CJK languages, so I can't get my hands on it.
