#i can't connect to my OWN server
137 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Are you hosting the server on your own network?
Yes
Ppl outside can also connect
And is the server located on the same PC that runs the game?
And what local IP are you using? Where are you typing it?
Yes and i tried both the local and ipv4 one
I type it into ip adress not the local one
On favourites
Can you share your logs.zip file found in C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid?
I assume you only tried the public IP recently?
Since I can only see that one in this log
If the server is on your network you have to use the Local IP
so if it works for me but my public wont it still will work to my friends not on the same wifi
ok idk why but it keeps dying if try to open the server

nvm got it fixed
Your friends have to use the public IP, you have to use the local one
Because you are inside the network, they are outside of it
so even if it wont work for me it will for them?
see it has usually worked on diffrent games just fine
It really depends on how the hosting is set up, which ports are used and so on
I assume your friends can connect right?
Did they try?
not yet
im trying to make it work for my self first
i tried it and still the same
Can you screenshot how you are putting the info in? Just to make sure its right
And how did you install the server exactly?
steam
Do the SteamCMD install in that case
offly little info what does it even do but ok its dowloading
FINALLY
i got in
one thing anymore can i lauch it on steam still?
its not working for my friends tho
i am going to sleep now but when you have time could you help with my the proplem that my friends cant connect w tried -nosteam and that didnt do it also
Do not try with nosteam, I assume you are hosting a steam server right?
Meaning you cannot join it with nosteam
Are they using your Public IP to join?
And did you port forward all your ports correctly?
Well it didn't work
Yes
Yes i have douple checked everything and it should work it has worked always with ither games with that same "routine"
There is both 16261 and 16262 open
And i always give the ip what i get from googling what is my ip since its my public and that always works
Are the UDP protocols open? And did you open them in your firewall as well?
Because the fact is, if you can join the server yourself, and other cannot, then the issue is not with the server
Its with the network configuration, since they cannot reach the server
yes i always do a douple opening to my server for UDP and TCP on both indbound and outbound
firewall not server sorry
And the router as well right?
In that case, what is the servers IP? And is the server running right now
I want to try connecting myself to make sure there were no mistakes in the connection process
i can open it
its opening
88.115.229.55
this is my public ip there is a pasword for the server but it should atleast show it online bc others cant even find it
its on now
Yes, it seems like the server is not connectable
And your IP seems to have issues being pinged as well
Do you have any extra security in your router
Such as any "anti ddos settings" or similar
let me check
there is Dos Protection blocking enabled and ipv4 and ipv6 firewalls
also that
all is off
Server is on?
Yeah still nothing, can you share the server-console.txt file from your User/Zomboid folder?
And did you apply the settings to your router after changing them?
Some routers require a quick restart after doing that
is it the same place where the steam one is bc it takes the settings atleast from there
while you do that imma do the prot fowarting again
also when doing the router part of the fowarting i have always used the TCP/UDP one is that ok
Still nothing, do you have any antivirus installed in that case?
only the windows one
Check if you have a double NAT in that case?
uhhh
i found that i acccidently set my 16262 off when i did the new fowarding is that an issue?
Not sure what you mean by that
The second IP on the cmd line was not a private one right?
nope
Well, not sure in that case, I would probably recommend checking your router configuration again, perhaps try not TCP/UDP but just UDP
Or see if there are any other hidden security settings
Such as a firewall in the router
That is a very unusual ip setup
You said your ip is 88.115.229.55 right?
But the second IP seems to be on the same net.. I assume its going to some sort of datacenter, perhaps your internet service provider
Meaning it is possible that they have to check the traffic. Which would also mean they have to allow any traffic to get to your PC
So if they have the 16261 port blocked, it would not reach you
it says elisa=my provider
Yes, thats what i am referring to
I would probably recommend calling them to make sure they do not block any of the ports mentioned?
And if they see any traffic trying to connect to you and if it gets blocked by them or anywhere else
Since the connection first has to always go through your service provider
And they have to allow it
Some do by default and some do not, so its best to check
Not sure what you mean by that
i just dont think operator would use their time to block one connection and leave others on if the one getting blocked has a history of being safe
