I had a server on a linux machine before, and it runs fine only if I disable ufw(firewall), decided to move the save to my win10 pc and run a dedicated server there for mod testing, but I am having the same issue again where I just can't connect to it. I'm guessing it is a firewall issue, but I've already allowed the ports through the advanced firewall settings and yet no change, I really do not want to disable the firewall on my main PC, is there a way to troubleshoot this?

Are you using the correct IP to connect to it?
If you are on a local network, you have to use your local IP
Really? Can't connect through public IP?
Is local IP my IPV4?
If your router's port fowarding rules are correct you should be able to utilize both local/ext. IPs to connect
Update, my partner can't connect either
Should be correct, I did it successfully on my Linux PC, but I had to disable ufw
& you said you excluded the EXE/BAT from Win Firewall & the install/SAVE folders from Bit-Defender (anti-virus) all around??
In both cases(Linux and windows), allowing the ports through the firewall didn't work
I'll try that
I only allowed ports
The only anti virus I have is Windows Defender
Find out how to stop Windows Security from alerting you about or blocking a trusted file, file type, or process, by adding it to the exclusions list.
Not that I trust MS, but you should be able to turn off the FW in Windows & try. If it worked, you know it's a Win problem. If it doesn't, you likely still have a networking issue somwhere
I see
but suggest do the exclusions & test anyway
Your server box has a static IP too? Matches the port fowarding/router?
It does have a static IP, but I don't understand the match thing
Oh wait, yeah, matches
Sorry, thought you meant if my public ip matches my private IP
That'd be a bit diff. to do 😛
This is how I did it, but again, it worked for the linux machine
Did the exclusion too, lemme launch the server
You have the folders, can remove the file exlusions
Ah, oki
With the FW down & exclusions, any issue(s) noted int he LOG/console when you spool up the server?
Well, so far even with the firewall turned off, it didn't work, now trying with it off and the exclusion
Update, no luck on both our ends
did the exclusions/firewall on the client PC as well?
What does that mean?
Well, that is my pc
The server is running on my client pc
running server & client (game) on same PC?
Yeh
?? Using 'localhost' or 127.0.0.1 as the IP on the client...doesn't see/connect to the server??
Should I disable upnp in the server settings?
Lemme try that
Local host works, public ip doesn't
Yes, disable uPNP.
You have the forwards, you don't need PNP
True
if local works & ext. doesn't, then I'd speculate the routing rules aren't kicking in+
For some reason it worked fine with my Linux PC, wonder if it has something to do with it having the Lan1 port on my router
Possibly, but no idea what to do about that
not sure what a LAN1 means
Yep, public not working
well, you can turn on the FW+ & test local. If that works, you can focus ont he router since of the equation
Router has multiple lan ports, my server pc has the first port and my client has the forth
Wait up
Yep, with firewall, local works fine
public still not working
post the router page w/ rules
If it's the router, I have no idea what to do, it's a ISP issued router and we don't have much options that I can understand
Or, maybe like mine, it takes a reboot of the router before the rules kick in?
Oh, I did that already
KaonMedia AR2140
Nah, they won't help further
I've tried, infuriating tbh
With a custom rom made by ISP, so it's not even the same UI
Can use this to fumble through?
https://portforward.com/kaon-media/digi/
Port Forward
You can have your KAON Media DIGI router ports forwarded in 4 steps. Be done in under 5 minutes.
Course, being UDP, there's no way to validate if the ports are OPEN or not 😒
Completely different sadly
Haha, we have the server for that
But technically speaking, it should be open on the router, since Linux works fine
Custom server (PZ). Server IP == IP of box you'll run the server from
What ?
Setup a rule
Yeah, this was the rule I made
I don't see IPs in that orig. s.shot
Here, pzserver is the linux server
maybe nuke the 4 & just put in one w/ the range
pzserver2 is the Win10 PC
Ohh, I see, might be the cause
That sucks xD
I don't need the 8766 and 8767 right?
Well, if you could make a single rule (if the router allows it), like mine, it's easy to EDIT & change the IP as needed
Because the other two can be changed if I am not mistaken
Sadly not for mine
Oki
Also, another weird thing is that it works with upnp in the server settings for linux server
I presume the 'pzserver' is the 'old' server rules?
@ the top, so I suspect they get 'hit' 1st & thus worked (w/ uPNP enabled or not)
No idea what that means ;w;
I'd bet if you took out all the PZServer rules, you'd find it all works as expected
Probably, is there a way to change the 2 ports for my client pc's server?
keep the 'pzserver2'
yes, via the LUA/INI config files. But, I'd suggest get it working w/ defaults THEN you can dork around w/ things
change as few variabls as possible, in case of issue(s)
Well, I'd like to be able to have both servers easily run rather than needing to change router settings everytime xD
But I understand what you're getting in
Ah shit sorry, I'll try it out tomorrow since it's 12am rn
