the highest praise I can give for the game I think is the ship design is very deliberate
most weapons and hulls that exists in vanilla is carefully tuned to have some use, some of the 'bad' weapons/ships enabling funny meme setups that can work in skilled hands
and any missing weapon profiles or hull weapon layouts in vanilla is usually because it breaks the game
