If you get overwhelmed? Just like in real life run away so you can survive.
You’re still gonna struggle if you have to run away from the base, but at least you’re alive and hiding out in the back room of a gas station or something with a can Of beans
If you just kind of stick it out and try to survive, overwhelming odds? You may not actually learn anything. You just die and then start over.

The biggest learning experience for me to tell you the truth was when my home got overran. I ran away and hid out in an apartment building for about a week, just surviving on the canned food. I found there. Then slowly made my way back and took out the zombies in tiny groups of two or three at a time.
It was a really long struggle, but ultimately worth it, because I learned a crap load about managing my food, managing my water, and always keeping supplies in my backpack so I could survive for at least three days if I was stranded

But I have not memorized the b42 mods yet

That always comes with the territory. It’s really a bummer when you work super hard and then die.
I think a big meta-for this game is the ability to not give up Like dark souls. There’s times where I can be really frustrating and really difficult, but if you stick to it, you’ll get way better and ultimately feel really rewarded.

at the end of the day it's your choice, i reccomend playing vanilla for at least a few runs to just, get a feel for things and explore
it's an early access game so there are issues here and there but that's where the mods come in, until the issue is fixed properly by the devs
- tons of fun content mods for alternative play once you're familar with base game :)
