Short answer: yes.
When Keanu signed on, the project lead changed the main story to focus on Johnny.
The OG script had 20 endings, with johnny being just ONE option you could take.
So they shortened it. Cut 30-50% of the actual quests. Re-wrote stories that were created from 2016-2018.

But I can confirm 2 of the alternate endings. One is jackie surviving. He either dies to the relic, it taking him over, or him being free’d. So basically the end game we all know happens to the player but it happens to JACKIE behind the scenes.
And a MaxTac ending where you sign up and retire working for the NCPD.
Others that have headers in the game files are retiring as a rock star, retiring as an exec at a corp.
The PLAN was to make it open ended like Skyrim so players could play it over and over again and choose actual life paths. All that got scrapped.
To quote the project lead they “dumbed down” the game to make it more accessible to a wider audience

the awesome thing about lua is it is perfect for game development, cause you can make an engine in a lower level language, then use embedded lua to make the game content, and oh hey, you have a modding framework inherently built into the core codebase :3
