Having played and ran Cyberpunk (and shadowrun) RPG games for 20+ years, the video game IS quite different.

I was epic disappointed to the point of hatred at the game launch tho. It was so effed….

These days it’s more legit and fun, but not the game it should have (or could have) been.

I’m also aware of some of the cut and leaked content that hit the web during the hacked source code and lawsuit but cannot speak on that content much.

CP77 today is legit. Just don’t expect it to be anything like Skyrim or Oblivion for Roleplaying. For that you need mods and to force specific playstyle yourself

Shadowrun, generally, obliterates Cyberpunk (main reason Cyberpunk stopped publishing books in the 90’s).

The trouble with Shadowrun is the creators and publishers change too often. So they toss around an idea, publish a book of “alternate rules” then 1 year later do it again.

Lots of typo’s too, so errata online for books has been a constant for years.

Avatar offline also allows you to transport players who are logged off.

So you can “save” your friend if your base is under attack.

Pick them up like an item. Escape. Drop them at your new base.

Then they log in, they log in where you transported them.
