Find a nice solitary house just outside of a city next to the water with few zombies around, establish it, and then sneak around. Don't ever challenge a horde unless you have massive fire power and a lot of time. Or if it's a small group, try to get one or two at a time and bring them away from the group. Never just run into a horde.

Always have two bases, that's pretty important

Your base doesn't have to be a really big important building either, you could just have a simple house, and then later when you can afford to build protection around a big base, you can get that as well. But it's not required. All my first bases are always just a two story house.

Add a rope to a window upstairs (Nail hammer sheet rope) take out the stairs, and you're good. Even if zombies get in they can't get up

The only thing you want to be aware of is placement, how far from the city is it, how many big hordes did you see on your way there, if you're playing with long lasting water/electricity you probably want it to have a fridge and a stove etc, is it close to water. Super simple, then make it. Then you can look for the base you REALLY want after that.

I picked a house in Rosewood rather than the gated community or fire department.

Clear the front yard and back yard on day 1. Closed all windows and put sheets on them so zombies can’t see inside.

Any zombies chasing me, I lose them in the backyards of the neighbors and run through their houses, then CROUCH and get back to my base.

Staying quiet means they don’t see me as I drop off food and water.

Next day, kill zombies in the street over.

Every yard cleared gives more “breathing room” where I can walk safely.

Or I yell and lure hordes up several blocks before going back, so I “herd” zombies in places to keep my base clear.

After a couple weeks, base has barricades, a perimeter, and decent defenses so zombies are not much of a threat when I get to my home “neighborhood”.

The moral: just keep at it. Work on goals in small bits like “clear my backyard”.

2- that will fluctuate a bit just like save game files.

3- data to/from a server is sent in packets, like a “zombie packet” containing all the location, data, and zombie type info of 3,000 zombies in rosewood.

4- lets say you kill all 3,000 zombies. That “data packet” will now be smaller. Cause it no longer has 3,000 entries of zombies. Their hit points, their aggression, etc. etc. to track.

Long answer longer:

server memory will flunctuate a lot. And it fluctuates based on game events, zombies, cars, loot, building, crafting, barricades. And other player actions.
