First impressions of Project Zomboid:

I absolutely adore the amount of customization, and I haven't even touched a mod yet!

The combat is punchy and strategic, like classic Resident Evil tank controls.

It's very difficult. I turned down the zombie population and made them shuffle around. It's been very fun so far, like The Walking Dead.

The weapons, melee specifically, make very little sense to me. An ax breaks on 5-6 hits but a hand ax stays around for roughly 30. Maybe the durability levels were varied.

The systems for building are intimidating as of right now, but I'll manage. Everything has an extra layer of depth that can affect you in many different ways.

Honestly it was a bit underwhelming, but I had set very high expectations. I'd say it's roughly on-par with some of the good games I've played. It's been very enjoyable and I can see myself coming back to this game everyday.
