I like the idea of a death that is not death because of a desire to kill or anything, but rather a more contractual death that does see the life in things, and is more just keeping the world in balance, even if it hurts their personal state. I don't like it when it's portrayed from the human perspective, but rather a creature that is just the janitor of the universe, it knows what it does is saddening for many, and yet it's all it knows, and it fulfills it's purpose out of obligation rather than personal belief

the game im playin does this quite well. you meet a vampire you think youll live with until you fight time or the world ends only for a hunter to kill them mid conversation...then you leave again, and every mortal you spend time with dies 'normally': a blacksmith guy he married died in his sleep from sickness that he didnt want healed, a half elf dies from stabbing that you cant stop, a dwarven sculpture dies unfulfilled from an infection due to a splinter....you cant find any effigies of him cause he never sculpted any, you just have his sculpture of you.

Death existed before life, and sees life as an aberration of thr natural order. Life brings chaos and conflict. So to bring true peace it seeks to end life out of mercy.
Life disagrees, It believes that life is worth pursuing. That there is joy despite the suffering. So it seeks to rebel against entropy (death) and live on [this is in relation to my literal definition of life].
Eventually though, life will lose. As far as we know the heat death will come and all life will end. But life rebels anyways, because it never was about winning. It was about resiting and living despite what death thinks.
I believe both have their merits. But I choose to live
