Many ppl hosting often just allocate based on how much RAM their system has. Like I have 32GB, so I can afford to allocate quite a bit. Note taht you still neade to leave RAM for your client session, separately.

typically I do ram allocation in multiples of 4 since I have 4 ram sticks

if you have 2 ram sticks you can do it in multiples of 2

8 gigs should be enough, but since you got RAM to spare you can go hog wild. But remember to leave some for your own client session too. And maybe browsers and Discord and stuff.
