The tougher places can teach you things the easier places can't. But I'd say Riverside is probably the easiest but has a way keep itself not feeling too easy. Rosewood is also easy with the amount of loot within immediate reach, but I'd say it's more demanding for combat skills than Riverside.

Muldraugh can be a slog with the huge hordes blocking paths in various places, but if you can manage moving past hordes it's disgustingly rich in everything. Also the most effort from the mapping team for little details, it's so pretty in the "christmas decorations out in july" kind of way.

@fluid jayA useful combat tip btw is keeping your crosshair behind a zombie, not directly on it, especially when it is point blank in your face. The bottom circle can be seen as where the crosshair meets the floor, the line is where a zombie would be standing.

When the zombie is in your face and you try to align the cursor on it, it is close enough that a slight movement will make you turn and pivot, ruining swings and opening you up to get grappled, especially if you accidentally flick your wrist

When a zombie is knocked on the ground, you can make your character stand over it's midsection/hip and it can not stand up. You can use this to knock down one zombie beside you, then focus on another zombie that is approaching you and deal with one at a time instead of both at the same time

There is also the tried and true fence method

Which is simply hopping over a waist-high fence of any kind, and waiting for the zombie to fall over trying to follow you, making for an easy and simple killing method that only requires a knock to the head or a stomp.

If you are too far away from the fence, the zombie will do a special animation that makes them lunge at your leg, which can damage or trip you; what you can do is stand right at the fence, where the zombie can't do a 180. They can't reach over the small fence and grab you. You can then walk over just after they lunge and stomp.

Make sure you have a good pair of boots before attempting fence fighting. And make sure there's no zombies on your side of the fence (not too close, anyway) and always kill the first zombie over the fence.

Also, somewhat related to fence fighting: weapon skill XP gain is based on damage, not number of hits.

Was unarmed combat mentioned yet? Shove a zombie to the ground and stomp it's head. The most I've dealth with unarmed was 5 at once on a str 5 / fit 5 character, but you really shold be trying to take them one on one if possible. Two at a time is still easy enough to manage for a str 3 / fit 3 character tho. Sturdy boots increase stomp damage!

Unarmed combat is a good option if you want to save your few melee weapons, or your hands aren't in a fighting shape. Or you have no melee weapon at all.

Once the water is hot enough, right-click on your bandages to sterilize them. No fancy resources needed! Works on bandages, and I believe rags too!

the thing is, rotten and cooked foods still keep the nutrition aka full calories. So, you can catch a shit ton of fishes or farm a shit ton of cabbages, and cook them, even rotten, and still get full calories / hunger stats, which is very OP as you don't need freezers anymore

in my test, it reduces food poisoning by a signifcant amound, like 20% left instead of 100% strength.

that means, you don't even need lemon grass anymore

and you can eat a shit ton of rotten foods. just spread out a bit
