Was pinch a parcel fair?

While i understand that not everyone is able to bring parcels due to cost reasons, there is no rules against items being second hand as long as they are good quality and unopened (no precoloured colouring books etc) making it easy for anyone of any one of any financial standing to bring something especially given colouring books and teddys are wildly available in charity and pound shops for very little cost.

Due to the rules stating you did not have to bring a parcel to play, it made the game unfair for those people who brought multiple parcels and ended with nothing (majority of my group so id imagine it wasn't uncommon).

Would it be possible to enforce a 1 parcel per person playing rule. For example, for every parcel a person brings, they get a stamp or sticker on their like wrist band. If 1 person in a group brings multiple parcels, they should be able to choose the number of people of parcels they brang to bring into the circle (E.G, i brought 3 parcels, so i take me and 2 people into the game). This way, everyone ends with a parcel assuming people gift and share, therefore massively reducing the amount of people disappointed and making it fairer for the people who spend time and money acquiring multiple gifts.

I second this, unfortunately I do think it was a bit unfair as I know some people who brought loads of stuff and either ended up with nothing or something very little (including me 😭) !!

we got a few complaints about this and i understand how frustrating it can be!

this is the first time where so many people didnt bring pinch the parcels that it meant loads people left empty handed :( i myself brought around 10 and didnt play and so did lots of volunteers...

in terms of your suggestion, itll be notes and discussed but its a great idea ^_^

I also noted that a few people (younger) ended up with multiple parcels, and either didn't share them out or attempted to leave the circle with the parcels before the game had ended, making it unfair as well. I don't have any solutions to this, but maybe someone can think of something...?

There needs to be a way for pinch a parcel to be more organised, like a check in check out space for it manned by staff. I think thatd actually work rlly well especially of people are counted in on wrist band stamps etc @opaque apex (sry for ping, its just another suggestion)

I didn't even realise you could play without parcels lol, me and my friend never really planned to play so we didn't bring anything parcels but just assumed you needed them because that just made sense 🤔 I thought it was meant to be like pass the parcel but everyone got something so it's strange to me that people actually left with nothing 🙏 I do also think that trying to fully keep an eye on the whole game and keep it fair as the staff team would be incredibly difficult due to the size it was (From what I saw) so maybe having it in a separated area would like suggested would be a good idea 🤔 although could get difficult if loads of people wanted to play, maybe having something like a rotating small team running pinch a parcel all day (or for a while) could be a good idea, that way there would be bigger and smaller games happening throughout the day which would be easier to keep an eye on and there's no pressure to play at a certain time on attendees, though I could see it being an issue if let's say a friend group of 5 who came together decided to play and then one person who came by themselves was also part of that game and they were the only ones playing that single person may feel a bit like an outsider of the group (I hope this makes sense) idk but it looked like a fun event so

Yeah I saw a person (about 8 years old I would guess) roll three 6/1 in a row and after all the parcels in the middle had gone and the first part of the game had finished they just got up with the parcels in their bag and sit down with their parents and open them

i didnt play pinch a parcel since i left mine at home, and i felt like itd be slightly unfair,,

im willing to bring multiple parcels next time so that more people get one :3

Oh dang I'm surprised there wasn't a one parcel per person rule, that seems pretty wild. I brought about 7 parcels but didn't play because I just wanted every person to have something, no matter how small

At the previous event it was stressed that if you had more than one parcel at the end, please share these out or hand the extra to staff to share out. Im not sure if that was specified this time or not (I wasn't around to wear) but like beck said we're going to look at it and see what solutions we can come up with for next time

i’m really sorry that everyone feels this way, as the team lead that helped run the game, i did try and stress sharing as much as possible and hearing that that didn’t happen is definitely something to note, i do want to say that there was always a chance you don’t get a parcel, that is how the game works but yes, we can definitely look at it and revise it for the next one

i was in the adult group and ended up with two parcels but i kept asking if anyone didn’t have one around me and everyone did so i didnt worry, i feel so bad some ppl went without :/

maybe it was different in the adult vs kid groups

I ran the adult one and went around after giving out kandi and trinkets to people who didn’t get anything - there was only 3-4 people i saw without a parcel, but i might have missed someone

As staff have been saying; it will be revised for future events to make it more fair and fun!!

While this isn't a widespread issue, I do think there should be at least some sort of acknowledgement against 'teaming' behaviours (i.e. not stealing from friends even when they have multiple prizes, collaborating to get more) as there was a group of 4 people sat right by myself (18+ circle) who were openly discussing teaming up to get as many as possible, and ended up with multiple prizes that they did not share. To add to this, they were very open about how two of them were not even remotely interested in the actual PITP event (they were not furries/therians/kemonomimis) and were just there to hang with friends, and so didn't even WANT to win certain prizes (masks, gear etc.) as they wouldn't use it...
I ended up not rolling any successes, but a person to my left kindly shared their duplicate gift with me, so I didn't leave empty-handed!

Not trying to name and shame anyone here, btw!! I just feel like this was a pretty selfish behavior that is worth noting for future organisers! <3

Yea this defo seems like an issue. i think it would be best if there were 2 piles of parcels. one where there is an equal amount of parcels to player (for the people that did bring gifts) and the other pile for the people that didn’t bring anything. this way, people can bring gifts can be guaranteed to get one and the people that didn’t bring anything can still play to try get one of the excess parcels (as some people bring more than one)

i heavily agree with this and i also think that it should be more encouraged to share out parcels if you got multiple. i myself got 2 and i ended up giving mine to the person next to me but i saw a couple of people hoarding and little kids just opening the parcels when they weren't meant to

Yesss good idea! like when the parcels are handed off the volunteers could write how many parcels the person dropped off or give like a separate wrist band. it would also help encourage more people to bring gifts ^^

People also kept pinching from people with one parcel and not the people with 2/3 which was odd 😭

Very late to reply to this, but I definitely think that if people have multiple "if" some pups don't have a parcel, those who have multiple could offer an extra to the pups who don't have one

I know once I had one, I gave all my spares to others who had none and only stole from people to give to those who had none XD
