I would like to host a server from my PC so I can play with Skript.
A lot of the guides I've found have either been wildly unhelpful or not worked.
I was hoping somebody here would have better advice or at least a consistent set of steps I could follow.

have you downloaded paper software yet?
and java (21) iirc, might be incorrect
for java
to run the server go to your terminal and when you're in the correct folder type java -Xms4G -Xmx4G -jar paper.jar replace paper.jar with whatever your paper software file is called and you can replace the 4G with however much ram you want min and max to be used iirc
the first time you run it it will create all the folders and files in your server folder and you have to agree to the terms and services (the terminal/error tells you how)

if you did this you should put it in a folder of your choice (an empty one)

once you did this you run the command again and the server should start
if all went well you should now be able to join your server with the ip localhost

I did all this from memory and some files that I saved here and there so I'm sorry if it's not correct but if it isn't I'll try to help you fix it
