Currently sci feels pretty bad to play as and sometimes against unless you use very specific combos (ac tranq pistol sensor/speed greed or bow mk speed greed/sensors) , I will cover each weapon and throwable she has but some I will edit depending on what peoples opinions are on them. Some of this is based off playing against her as well.
Because I know this is likely to come up I have always thought scientist seems stronger than she is as sniper classes generally attract sweatier/better players in games, I’ve always thought this prior to even being into this game so that may affect my views on her in general as all people who I see do well as sci also do well on other humans and as dinos
Sniper rifle
This weapon has basically gone extinct after the nerf however the core issue of it didnt see to be resolved as hipfire is still pretty much laser accurate. To resolve this it should get its fire rate reverted but hip fire spread increased so its not basically just a slug shotgun
PDR
Could do with some additional spare ammo, other than that I’m not really sure what to do with it without making it overly annoying
Bow
Nerf explosive arrows as they make scientist a lot better at close range than she should be especially against nova and smaller, they make her able to use no aim to do 212 damage or so without being charged, not wanting to get into bleed here as theres other threads existing for that
AC
Generally fine outside of the whole knocking tyrants off corpses issue however thats more of a tyrant thing as its bad against nova and smaller but good against bruiser and tyrant, basically just a sniper alternative
Tranq pistol
Can feel too oppressive against tyrant at times as it can effectively shut them down with one sci
Gas mines
Increase duration and or area of effect cause just now its pretty useless
Speed greed
Doesn’t really need any major changes
Sensor mines
Probably need to reduce detection area or reduce the amount of time they show a dino for
