#Different Idea for how Cryo Acid Deals Damage

I have 2 ideas for Cryo affecting damage overtime instead of the way it currently is and I'd like to hear how people feel about it.

The first idea is instead of having the Cryo's acid doing flat number whenever you walk over it. It would deal much lower damage, but tick a lot faster, and ramp up in damage the more you stand in it. So it'd start out for exmaple 6, then 8, then 10, then 12, etc. etc. until it reaches a cap of X number of damage? The damage would tick very fast to prevent never getting kills with it.

To help with this, what if the damage puddles were also slightly larger for better area denial? Pyro counters Cryo acid very heavily now, so I don't think it'd intrude on gameplay too heavily if the sizes of the puddles increased.

Second Idea was instead a massive single amount of damage upon direct spit, it would deal a smaller number, then sizzle on top of them dealing 3 ticks of Dot. So you'd have a 50 damaging spit, then it ticks three times for an extra 5 damage (To equal the current 65)

Same thing could apply for bile bombs, instead of dealing a flat 110, it would deal 80, then tick 3 times for 10 damage.

I jut thought it'd be a cool way to integrate soe more dynamic acid for Cryo that really feels like it's melting somebody rather than just flat acid damage, it'd probably feel a lot more satisfying in gameplay and really feel like some sort of sizzling damage output.

I think it’s a good middle ground, kinda hate cryo rn and would prefer this so long as it’s lower damage on the whole

That was the pitch I was trying to give here yeah, it's a big complaint a lot of the time with how much mass damage output cryo's doing instantly, so having it lowered a bit with sizzling overtime effects might make it more tolerable because sometimes cryo kills so fast you don't even have time to register what happened

I think the damage ramp up should start at 12-20 but the acid pool lasts longer on the ground imo,

I like the damage ramp up idea, and the larger size if we also reduce direct damage and increase the stamina spit needs

Idk, being pelted by 65 damage projectiles each second for 15 seconds isn't the best to fight against

PrimalShrug I still think it could be reduced by a tad, either in damage or the amount of damage a cryo can do (with amount of spits)

All he needs is a charged direct spit damage nerf, maybe some stamina cost nerf too

He has stamina on spit kills now and still has his F button ability so stam nerfs shouldnt be so evil to him and also doesnt punish Battle Cryo (the far better and effective playstyle vs Roof camping all game)

At base value direct spit damage and aoe spit damage need to be equal so you can choose which you want to use. As it stands, roof camping only exists because you're more likely to get a direct hit than a puddle, which does more damage

It's also easier to do damage from a distance than as battle cryo because you're less likely to get one shot, but you can't increase its health because then roof camping is more encouraged

Maybe the direct hit spit could also get a ramp up mechanic? Start off low, get the "acid" debuff on the human, second hit deals increased damage?

I disagree with the idea of nerfing because of roof camping as it effectively makes cryo worse at fighting in closer ranges, which further encourages roof camping

I think the only nerf cryo needs is to direct charged hits and then just some consistency to how the spit on the floor deals damage, I dont really mind how it works when its on the floor but just now it can be very inconsistent

Technically it's supposed to be useful for battle cryo since you deal more damage to more people

I think its kinda unhealthy behaviour for the class in general as it encourages players to waste spits on One human instead of supporting his team by melting stuff / briefly blinding people

Cus otherwise making it do more damage the more your in it is just nerfing cryo spit to do something pitful like 11 damage

I’m pretty sure the visual area is quite misleading currently too but I’m not sure if the suggestion would work because of the point ian just made basically

Either way I think some way to make damage on cryos ground spit to be more consistent would be a good thing

i think cryos Impact spit damage is fine for non charged spits

charged spit direct hits are unhealthy for the class in general and his opponents, encourages not supporting your team by melting equipment and hurting from afar

Im open to rework/changes to Cryo acid pools

I think cryo should get like one change at a time otherwise it could get put in a bad spot easily

Pyro should take longer to ignite fire pools but that should only come with a cryo nerf, otherwise cryo would be even more oppressive than it is right now

Seriously you can get the same amount of points as a ptera by just igniting cryo pools currently

Yeah you get 20 points per pool (sometimes 20*2 because spaghetti code), and with 3 or so cryos per game spitting as often as they do, that's at least 15 pools per minute

The only caveat is you have to use flamesaw

Yeah, the main idea was damage dispersal without outright nerfing it since we all know Cryo is a very delicate class

The ramp up damage i'm not quite as sold on but the direct spit doing DoT which also puts it in line with dilos acid makes it more interesting than just throwing free burst damage whenever you wish.
