If you've played Scientist/played against Scientists recently you know what I'm about to say. Nerf the hipfire accuracy of her default sniper rifle. It's not even funny how stupidly accurate it is right now. Sure, she does already have reduced headshot damage on hipfires so that she can't instantly flick around and pop the smaller classes like before, but the gun still essentially functions like a long range slug shotgun the way it is currently.

Putting it a little better than AC's hipfire accuracy i think would be fine. You don't want her to be an entirely free kill up close, but you don't want long range / up close shotgunning either

I’m sorta indifferent to it being changed, scientist players gonna scientist regardless what you do

I feel like the bullets in hipfire aren’t even the most accurate? They feel like they almost magnetize sometimes because I will shoot in the general direction of something and it gets hit

I’m aware that’s likely not how it works but it feels like anything in the circle of the crosshair just gets hit if it’s inside sometimes

I dont really think it should be nerfed because bow is just as capable at long ranges and can just pop an explosive arrow and if you shoot a wall scoped vs descoped you can see there is an increased spread. I think this is just because of how the new hit detection works as shrew said, I think this change would purely hurt newer players as the people who are good at sci can just play around this. I also think sniper already has a couple small things against it already such as reduced fire rate while descoped plus heavy melee can also just be the “I win” button, another reason I disagree with this is because a lot of the time scis range advantage just isnt practically useable on maps because of the large increase in visual cover (I know sensors exist but you have to actively place them there first and hop something triggers it)

Imo nerfing a class/weapon that already has a relatively high minimum skill level is just gonna make sniper/sci unusable for 90% of players and hardly affect the sci players that are getting top 3 scores every round

Also if you nerf sniper too much everyone will just swap to AC and does anyone really want that

i wouldnt like it to be nerfed to the point where scientists are just better off using the assault cannon

and while i do find scientist to be one of the more annoying human classes to deal with, this wasn’t a suggestion made out of spite for the players that put in the time to hone their skill with this weapon if you can count point and click as a skill PrimalMerc

i only came to the conclusion that a change was needed after using the weapon for myself

Cause if you shoot a crate there is a higher spread at hip fire compared to ads

im aware that there’s still a difference between hipfire and ADS, the hipfire is just so accurate that that difference rarely matters

Honestly I think this change just hurts inexperienced players and wont really affect experienced players which probably isnt good cause of the high skill gaps already present, sci is still pretty easily the worst class at close range too so thats the other reason I’m unsure about the nerf really being needed

would a weakness at close ranges not encourage scientists to play with their teams rather than popping a speed greed and running off into oblivion

I think thats an issue with speed greed rather than sniper as that applies to all of her weapons and speed greed can effectively negate a hipfire accuracy nerf because you have a lot more room for error

I’d say speed greed would be more suitable to nerf over her guns

maybe i shouldn’t have named speed greed since that wasn’t my point, i think that part of her kit is fine

im saying that i think it’s okay for classes to have obvious weaknesses like that as long as they can be covered by the other classes on their team

Imo speed greed is her biggest issue because it lets the sniper class run at the same speed as a dilo for like 10 seconds or so which basically entirely negates any disadvantage she may have at close range because she can afford to miss so many shots against raptors or can run to her team very quickly, it also lets her fight bruisers very effectively at close range which I also dont think she really needs to do

So I think an accuracy nerf on hipfire wont really encourage players like that to stick to their team

my issue with speed greed is just by nature of how short it lasts and how small the range you can apply it to yourself it feels like it’s much more intended to be for selfish use

If it was a smaller speed boost for a longer time it would probably be better for your team and to play against

Well if you can already dodge around a bruiser comfortably and speed match a dilo then missing an extra shot here or there wont make a huge difference overall, whereas the players who run sensors or gas mines (generally closer to their team) will just become more vulnerable, so I think it would almost just encourage people to run around with speed greed

a larger radius to encourage sharing + the smaller buff and longer duration that you mentioned sounds perfect to me

I’d prefer to see speed greed changed rather than sniper as I feel this could make bow outclass sniper whereas just now I’d say they are pretty even

Cause bow has explosive arrows and can also do comparable long ranged damage as sniper

I dont think thats an issue with bow or anything but I could see it outclassing sniper if it was nerfed

i’d be open to seeing how an edited speed greed would affect the playstyles of scientist players before any changes to her actual weapons are made

I do understand why you think snipers hip fire would be an issue but I think nerfing it just hurts people trying to learn her and I dont think thats good for this game

i honestly prefer the sensor mines so i don’t actually find myself using speed greed very often lol
