#Zap Trap is annoying

Zap trap is annoying throwable that shuts down most classes in the game. It feels very cheap to play against since the trapper usually runs around a double stack of zap traps giving the trapper plenty of time to dump his dual secondaries or netgun/stungun.

I feel like to make the throwable more fair to play against by either reducing the potency of zaps or limiting the zap trap in some other way.

  • Idea 1: Remove preventing bite attacks, instead make it reduce bite attack damage by 25%.

  • Idea 2: Make consecutive zap trap zaps less effective on dinos, dealing less damage and zapping the dino for less time per consecutive zap.

  • Idea 3: Limited use per zap trap. Zap traps can activate up to 3 times until being used up.

  • Idea 4: Potentially Zap Trap self damage on trapper. 25 damage per self damage zap

  • Idea 5: Similiar to Idea 2, zap trap itself has a "battery" that worsens each zap activation. Dealing less damage and zapping the dino for less time per consecutive zap. Less tied on the individual dino like in idea 2 and more on the zap trap itself.

I know that zap traps are to encourage counterplay by hit-and-running instead of just sitting within the radius and mashing M1 but the fact that it prevents you from M1ing I feel is punishing enough

This way it wouldn’t be an oppressive nerf and would still allow zap traps to perform their function as necessary without butchering it

Good thing the Dino team has cryo as a class that’s used more than dilo

i shouldn't need to rely on playing a different class or having a cryo everywhere just to use my m1 dino

All these ideas just seem to make it bad in a way, you can still tail swipe as cerato while zapped, can’t really reduce the zap time on the dinos because zap trap is meant to stun them not for a second, you could nerf the damage because isn’t it like 40? Zap trap already has a limit I think, idea 4 I can only see happening if a tyrant runs on it and trapper is nearby like when you stand near your mine and a dino kills you with it, idk how I feel about 5

Its already pretty limited, pretty sure it hits like 3-4 times. Sure they can be kinda annoying sometimes but I dont think theyre op at all

I know they're obviously on the floor, they're bright teal and blue with a retro sci-fi looking thing on top. They're not like normal mine throwables where they're supposed to sort of blend in and trap you funilly enough. You just throw two of them and get plenty of time stalling any m1 focussed dino from staying in the fight and stopping their kill power entirely so they can't heal from kills.

i think the issue is just that a lot of players still have no idea that cryo can destroy throwables

especially on a class that can literally press a button to instantly refill its stamina bar every minute lol

im not assuming that at all

if people want to play like k/d goblins then more power to them

but a well placed cryo spit that destroys mines in a choke point or a medkit around the corner can make or break an entire push by the dino team
