Bit of an edgy idea but it would be a neat detail.
For example, melee damage/kills with burst rifle bayonet and machete could apply a blood overlay.
While for dinosaurs blood could build up from feeding or getting multiple kills, maybe showing kill streak.

ye that's what i'm going for
so the blood effect will be relevant to what actually hit the enemy.
i.e cerato mouth and hands for m1, tail for tailwhip.
