Well I was trying to load up the game with my games installed and once it tries to load it straight up crashes, my graphics settings are all default and I have NO idea on why this is happening

i only have rudimentary knowlegde but if i had to guess
the emulator needs a sufficient amount of memory to emulate the rom, and if your computer isnt running anything, its conserving memory and the emulator doesnt think your computer has enough memory to load the rom, so it crashed
i assume loading steam forces your system to use some vram
which tells the emulator "this system has thism uch vram available" and allows it to load the rom
im just pulling shit out of my ass here tbh
it's solved my issue tho and it seems to help some other people so im happy it works
and osmetimes just having steam doesnt work for me, but then ill load a game like nier automata (recent game ive played) and then ill load smash and it doesnt crash. then i close nier and the emu loads the rom without crashing henceforth
