#Looking for a new MMORPG

ESO isnt a cash grab, it has a sub but it's more for convenience like the unlimited crafting material storage
if you can manage some self control (not picking up everything) and a bit of inventory management, you'll do fine in ESO as a fully buy-the-expansions-only player
and same thing, ESO is like GW2, can pick up it for a bit, get bored, take a break and continue where you left off months later
you can also play ff14 free trial. there's no time limit to it and you get 2 expansions free with the trial. especially great if you like solo-ing as dungeons and certain 8 man trials can be done with NPC support (basically bots) if you dont want to play with people
@iron pulsar I'd definitely pick GW2 over ESO, it's just that I always find the beginning a lil boring and the artstyle sometimes isn't very nice... I've heard a lot about FFXIV, how well does it handle housing, fashion and lifeskills?
By the way, someone recommended me playing Runescape, what are your thoughts? I'd prolly go for the Old School version because I haven't been hearing good things about the newer one
as a free trial player you wont have access to housing. fashion probably beats most mmorpgs besides a certain few (like mabinogi and the upcoming star resonance)
ff14 literally has the most variety of clothing/outfit choices
from fantasy/medieval to gothic to modern/casual to skimpy/sexy
PSO2 is an alternative if you prefer something that focuses on fashion and housing
but again it doesnt have as much variety as FF14 does
Gotcha, what about lifeskills?
lifeskills, ff14 is pretty good at it. each crafting profession are their own class
with their own levels
and their own rotations/skills to use
Ooooh yeah, I remember something like that when I tried it
the gathering professions (mining, botany, fishing) are the same
How does it compare to BDO?
though not as indepth as the crafting
i never did lifeskilling in BDO (only did quests, pve farming mobs to level and pvp) so i cannot comment on that, but i do hear often it is pretty much an AFK simulator for life skilling.
runescape has seen a surge in popularity recently, it's a very very good game if you like slower paced overall
and like GW2, ESO, FF14, it does not demand your time and focus
Runescape 3 or Old School?
but it's best you ask runescape concerns in #runescape
old school
Gotcha
runescape3 has lots of micro transactions
and slightly p4convenience/p2w-ish
but nothing like korean games
i mean the skills are all identical except their icon
yup
but its not like most mmos
where
have material = check, click craft = done
(though that can be done in ff too with macros)
yeah fair
I'll definitely check OSRS and FFXIV then, thanks 🙂
OSRS seems like it'd be nice to play at college too
While I got nothing to do
do give GW2 another try as it seems like the best fit for your use-case
hell yeah it runs on anything
your phone, your microwave
your computer in the library
