#Social MMOs

FF14 is my main mmo, and since you've tried those 3 (ff, wow, gw2), have you tried ESO (just inacase you havent yet :P) in ESO i had an easier time talking to people in the open world than GW2 like you say it's luck and your server/timezone
osrs has a lot of chatty people too
in FF14 the chattiness is just found mostly if you hang out in limsa or uldah (mostly limsa)
Hm I did, but been a while, and I don't really recall how chatty people were in there haha. Might have to retry ESO
Mostly yeah, though just walking up to random people anywhere seemed to often get responses heh
My issue with 14 is like, idk if I just wanna play more of my old char, but making a new char is also like a PITA
unless I buy story skips
but at that point, eh
might as well play the old char then
what makes you unsure of your old character that makes you want to consider starting over? cause yeah like you say 14 isnt really alt-friendly
cause if it's just story (that you forgot where you at or what has happened since)... there's a lot of recap and summary videos in youtube
but if it's people in your social circle that give you the feeling of wanting to logout after you've logged in, then yeah i can understand that
(though a server transfer and a name change may partially fix that)
also if it's "social", it's new and janky, but you may want to also try bitcraft online
i've recently made my first character there and right off after logging in, i see my chatbox being very active with server chat
eh idk, just always odd to go back ot high levelish stuff when you hvaen't played a game in ages :P
maybe watching a recap would help for that
Maybe, but it's less about story
more, idk, I don't even recall what I was up to, what half of the stuff in my inv was for, what to do now, etc
yeah it's a "you" thing i guess, i certainly dont have that issue (for example in WoW) whenever i come back every 2 expansions (i skip 1 usually)
i guess a new character wouldn't hurt, and they've streamlined the story in ARR a lot. and going forward in "old" expansions they've reduced some of the tedium (like unlocking flight for each area)
once you get re-oriented what each of your stuff does, and what each item or currency is for
Yeah, but also having to re-acquire all the things can be a pain hah
then go back to your main
like mounts from farming stuff or w/e
i meant it as like making a new character so you get re-introduced to new things slowly again.. then get back to your main once you're all caught up
if anything most of the junk in your inventory is just teleport tickets maybe, free food and potions, free gear chests (open to get gear for current class), or those allagan piece of metal/silver/copper things that you just sell for ingame money to the npcs
ah, right
if you've been killing open world mobs then you'd probably have a lot of crafting materials as well
Still wish the game had fox girls :P (yeha you can mod that in, but eh, then only you and/or people on Mare can see it)
if you're primarily socialising, then you'll probably see a lot of people with Penumbra and Mare eitherway
Maybe, yeah
Thouhg my socialising tended to be with random people not at clubs or w/e
console people aside
ahh yeah then maybe not yeah
Haven't really played Dawntrail yet, how are healers doing? xD I recall in Endwalker they felt more and more unimportant, barely needed to heal some tanks in dungeons cause selfheals an stuff
hmmm let's see. the main complaint people who main healers have about their current state is that "the rotation is boring"
Well depends on if those complaints are based on raiding or dungeoning I guess too
you still for the most part throw your DoT and spam your spammable dps skill (glare/broil/malefic/etc.)
as for "healing" in content, this expansion's savage raid and extreme trial mechanics will have you busy being an actual healer
while juggling mechanics and your role
there's still downtime where you do nothing but spam your dps skill but it's fewer and far in between compared to endwalker
I see
as for dungeons and more casual content, the dungeons in dawntrail have more interesting and refreshing mechanics compared to all previous expansions (comparable to when stormblood introduced fresh new, not recycled mechanics)
I do notice newer dungeons tended to not have any side paths
sooo they're fun the first few times around, but like any dungeon content you will get used to them and they will be second nature one day
And the reworks of older dungeons made them worse too heh
ah yeah dungeons for the most part are still, hallways with 2 packs of trash in between bosses
i was mostly talking about the boss fights
lol
if you will be doing savage content and doing extreme trials, healer is probably one of the more exciting roles
is basically the tl;dr
for healers this expansion
with tank being the most boring
cause atleast ranged dps (both physical and casters) have some mechanics to do
just sued to be you at least needed to heal the tanks :D
the feeling of healers being "optional" is less felt in dawntrail
for dungeons and casual content i mean
lol
warrior is still broken with self healing for dungeons so that hasnt changed
f
but even then, with the harder than usual mechanics, a mediocre tank and party can still die if not healed up
Would you say people are chatty in RO private servers? xD
depends on the hour/timezone and the server itself ofcourse
but if you happen to be at the time when most players are active, then on p.server, the #server-chat can be very chatty
official (iRO) does not have a server chat though
so it's a bit more lonely over there
Hmm
Local chat tends ot be nicer
Server chat, I mean, I oculd also just use discord then xD
on some p.servers they link discord chat and the ingame server chat via a bot
well 1 channel of the server's discord atleast
so it will feel kind of connected
but yeah i get what you mean
honestly in RO, in p.servers i rarely encounter people hitting you up for some random talk in the open world but i did happen a handful of times in prontera and payon
OSRS could be neat, just zero interest in the super grind gameplay of it XD So RO or FF14 are the more likely options
you can try eso again for another spin as well
but yeah in everygame it really just depends if you're there at the right place and at the right time lol
Yeah, probably
Some just seem easier with it maybe
Like WoW usually has some talk in zone chat but felt quite little "walk up to someone" talk
Wonder how chatty people are on Everquest 2 🤔
i've only played on the p99 eq1 p.server so no idea about eq2, and im not sure if anyone in this discord current plays eq2 to have an idea about how social it's population is... maybe @sleek shoal though LOL
I did hear some people say it's still being played at least heh
Whomst pinged me
Oh
Yeah Everquest 2 is a fucking desert
I've geniuenly never felt so alone playing an MMO before
f
Kinda expected since I never hear anyone talk about it
But I did seem to see a comment or two on some YT video ro so going "EQ2 is still being played!!"
Super late to the party
But hang out in the most bustling cities in BDO
You will always find people doing literally anything but grind in the game just chilling
Hm interesting
My memory of BDO cities was lots of people being afk grinding/fishing xD
I always remember BDO trying to talk politics and demonstrating that they're all a bunch of a kids with the compassion of a rock.
There is even a saying that the true endgame of BDO is jumping roofs on Velia
Which is what you do when youre too tired to do anything productive but need to be chronically online
Right
Idk, might have to check again too. Didn't play that muhc of BDO cause of how grindy it was and some other stuff
Yeah, I dont play it myself anymore
But the last 3 months of my gametime was mostly talking shit in the lifeskill chat and interacting with people in Velia
I see
