I second lotro. also genshin impact. and if you want very deep plot but one that requires you to look for it I love the warframe storytelling
and runescape has very tedious but well written quests but I would much rather suggest watching a yt video on it than playing osrs or rs3 (sic!) for just quests

Agree on this. GI is the "most f2p" gacha game i have ever met,most content if not all can be beaten without speding money and they are pretty generous on currency. And its the plus that it's not a competitive MMO. And yeah we have pretty much very good examples of "scam" in the market (ones that got shut down so quickly that can't be remembered and others that still wander around)
But yeah op i recommend you also GI, i don't like the combat system so much but its a good game for a story driven rpg. SWTOR and LOTRO as MMO have a nice story since they are based on lore rich universes.
