#Looking for a MMO which I can find community.

Hello everyone,

I've been an active player for most of the biggest MMO games but I was not able to find a community that I can be part of. The issue I had was most of the communities in the popular games are already shaped and it's hard to adapt yourself to them (I've been to too many groups in both WoW and FFXIV and I had the same issue).

So I've decided to start to play a private server of a game that already has a small group in it happy to welcome newcomers instead of trying to find groups in popular big MMO games.

In short, I'm looking for an MMO game with a small community. My priority is to feel the old socializing and community days of MMO so the gameplay will be my second priority (This is why I'm thinking private servers might be a good solution). I'm open to any suggestions.

might wanna start off with project gorgon

#

closed communities form even before games release because discord, reddit and forums exist

#

the only way to mitigate that is by joining them early on, or start playing a new mmo as soon as it releases

#

or it could simply be a "YOU" problem of not being able to feel comfortable inside stablished communities... if that's the case you can try starting and managing your own groups/guilds

You could try recently relaunched games, like Tree of Savior, Eden Eternal, or Aura Kingdom. Palia and Cinderstone Online are new games that are coming out that might meet your social needs.

New World due to the small servers tends to have good communities where you really feel like a part of it

#

like you actually know people and guilds are always recruiting

Good suggestion. I've also tried to play New World again 2 days ago (I played it around 100 hours when it first released). But I realized the game is dead and the devs are abandoned the game. Community is so mad to devs due to lack of attention but they keep playing since they invest a lot of time into the game. So I decided to stay out of it xD But it's so sad to see the game's current status say the least.

I also wanted to include my reddit comment to here.

Most mmos have fair to good social communities. However, just like the real world, effort is required to find / get into one.

#

As for smaller mmos I think Groo's answer is incredibly valid

Its been a hot minute since I've played EQ, what feature did EQ add to prioritize socialization?

I’m talking in general not just EQ, to beat a dungeon you have to form a dungeon instead of a random auto dungeon finder. Instead of picking, and making meta builds you're able to play any class you want freely.

For example, I love playing characters like Bard, heale, etc. To buff and help people along the way similar to classes crafting something and helping people etc. But most of the modern mmos they’re all there to be exposed, abused. This is why I’m looking for a game that has these features and also has a good, small community. So I can play and enjoy whatever I want freely with people.

But is looking for a tank via chat social?

#

Imo thats not socialization. Nor is deciding between meta and non meta builds..

That same chance is there with party finder systems.

#

I'm not arguing for the sport of it. Im a dev, im genuinely picking your brain from a place of good intention.

Umm then I might be the problem idk, because in the games I played it was being like this

Press Group Finder>Queue>Start>Fight>End nothing more. Without even a single message.

Only time I felt okay was the FFXIV raids. But again we were just talking about the boss and bosses mechanics nothing else. It was not socializing because after that everybody was just leaving the raid as expected because nobody needs anyone at all they can simply click group finder once more when they wanted to play.

Imo older mmos did not add anything to grant socialization.

#

It was however, a great option to socialize as other forms didn't really exist.

#

Thats been replaced with places like reddit, and apps like discord.

#

MMOs didn't abandon socialization... socialization abandoned mmos.

#

So to speak...

#

Its about path of least resistance. It's far easier for me to socialize on discord

#

I can post memes link videos, etc

#

Where will MMOs regain socialization? When it becomes easier to communicate in game.

I can see your point and I can agree with you.

hardy imp
#

My point is selling something with trading people themselves, talking about making bargains are more valuable than selling by just facing with the UI

#

I can agree that all these improvements are making everything faster and more playable but for sure less valuable.

#

I’m here playing MMORPGs for adventures, socializing, and communicating with strangers we share the same digital world 😄

#

Might be unnecessarily emotional but this is what I value in MMORPG games not grinding or getting the best weapons just to be the most powerful people on the server.

Where you're gonna find that, is a platform where its easier for folks to talk, and ask questions than it is to google it.

#

The population of the mmo-sphere that genuinely wants to socialize, as the primary goal of an mmo, is very small.

#

I get it, I do, thats just the reality. its a small, and VERY vocal group.

Yeah you're right about that if only "zenith: the last city" had been successful xD

ILYSIA feels like a vanilla WoW in VR.
