Has anyone yet found a solution to this issue? I'm getting nowhere with Kilo now, thanks to it. I'm using Gemini 2.5 Pro through the Gemini CLI API provider. It feels like such an incessant and unending problem. I've tried adding rules, editing Code Mode's definition, usage, and custom instructions. Nothing appears to make any dent in this issue. I've not even been able to figure out a consistent reason for this happening, as sometimes it seems to just work.
also i've included custom instructions at multiple stages to prioritise using 'apply_diff'. is 'edit_file' even a tool?? not sure why apply_diff isn't working either.

that... seems to have worked!! this combined with rate limiting gemini 2.5 pro is so far stable. i'll keep an eye on it to see if stays that way, but yes! thank you

the issue came back for gemini and qwen also has this same issue
