And also because almost anything China makes is either just a cheap knockoff, or is not as good as they claim, historically speaking.

It can carry more payload.. its a bomber/missile truck, also the 3rd engine is likely also needed for electronic warfare, as that eats up electricity

And I mean the J-10ce already proved they were capable of making competent fighters decades ago, since its still mostly the same airframe as the A varient from... 2002? or something like that
