#Better autopilot

yeah in SP1 the "auto pilot" if you could even call it that, is a glorified wing leverer that dosnt even work verywell.
fr
yes, in SP1 all my aircraft cant be controlled by the auto pilot, they go up and down
it only works in planes that are as maneuverable as ww2 heavy fighters
and only if they are as slow as heavy bombers from ww2
your really defending the auto-"pilot" in sp1? a real autopilot flys the planes for you not just revoke all conrole from you and nose dive you
If you actually read my message you'd realize I wasn't defending it
The sp1 auto pilot really just needs a gain control or a tuneable PID to be ok. If you make a reasonable FBW the AI has no problem but to fly a "simple plane" it needs some sort of tuning.
so what did you comment for? you add nothing to the conversation. we dont care that it works on "ww2 heavy fighters" we care its not even an autopilot
glad to see everyone is having a nice, calm, friendly day over here
they're saying that the PID controller stabilizing the plane only really works for planes as slow, heavy, and unmanueverable as WW2 heavy bombers
yes i see however autopilot irl flys you somplace for you not just level wings wich in most cases just sets you slightly below the horizon making you hit the ocean
Not always. In fact, most autopilot systems just hold whatever they're set to and are limited to just holding attitude, altitude and/or heading, so the SP1 autopilot holding altitude and heading is actually pretty accurate.
Only on more complex aircraft like airliners do you start seeing complex autopilots that fly you to specific locations.
yes i meant it as that
i never meant to defend its being called an auto pilot just that as a wing leveling assist it could work in the situation described
in in the end it disables player input until disabled
alt, speed, heading
original SP1 AP is designed to do a straight line ig
this can be done already in vanilla SP
although, having a built-in one (possibly with modular controls you can add to your cockpit) would allow more users to add one to their plane
You'll be quite surprised since the addition of modern avionics like garmin ect... Autopilot in smaller GA aircraft are becoming increasingly advanced
but with complexity
check out geofs's autopilot, they're easier
The autopilot now will make the aircraft pitch up and down for no reason unless you level the aircraft near perfect to level and flat before activating it 😭
Yeah, the SP auto pilot only works with like bombers and stuff that doesn’t have a lot of pitch control
dawg can it
we already went through this
the dawg cannot in fact can it

can we add a emergency autoland button and just a regular autoland
Holding the W key for a few seconds usually works pretty well for that
